Nope. Most people aren't willing to sit through multiple albums of crap on the off chance that maybe later albums will get better for them.
"In order" is lazy, shitty advice that allows people to feel pretentious without putting any effort into the feedback. If you want to avoid it start asking "what are ___'s most accessible albums?"

IMO the best place to start with an artist is their most "accessible" album. Even if it's not arguably their best work, if it's easy to listen to and digest it will be a gateway to exploring deeper into a discography.
