Audio-Technica M70X
Hell yea I recommend them, but only if you like hearing everything in the recording. Meaning, if it's a shit record, the headphones won't make it any better.
>>64022310
wew meme
>>64023869
Audio-technica? More like autist-technica
They're shit cans for pseudo elitists
Buy AKG
>>64023908
well memed
but you lose because AKG is also a meme
>>64022304
Some old Hi-Fi speakers, Dali Zensors on my desk and AKG K271 headphones. And yeah, i woukd recommend.
These.
>>64022304
Out-and-about I use either Shure se425s or KEF M500s and yes I would absolutely recommend both.
At home I use Audeze EL-8s or Sennheiser HD800s and unless you have a good setup with a DAC, AMP and good source files or records, I would not suggest these.

Yess. THese are the best headphones under $200
>>64025475
the best headphones under 200 are the SHP9500s and the RPmk3s, fuck ATH
I recently fell in love with the K612, IMO the best headphone AKG has on the market right now. maximum bang/buck

There is not specific best headphone at any given price range... it's not that simple.
That said, the ATH-M50Xs are the golden-standard for headphones under $200, similarly to how the Shure se215s are the golden standard for earbuds under $100. Are the M50Xs the best? probably not. But you can't really go wrong with them either.
Also, giving out recs if anyone cares. Just tell me price and what kind of music.
ATH900x
more colored than the m50s but with a more spacious soundstage. love them. My m40s are also decent, but with a way too clinical sound for casual listening
>>64025595
>way too clinical sound for casual listening
those are like the little headphones that could
They're a great bang-for-buck but they're also coloured and undetailed as fuck. Bass is the M40's motto
They're good headphones but nothing like clinical
>>64025581
Hi m8 you seem to know your stuff. I got the m50x about a year ago when I was getting into music, been very happy with them overall, and now I'm looking to upgrade.
My main complaints with the m50's are:
>a bit uncomfortable on my head after a couple of hours, but i get over it
>a bit of sibilance sometimes, I know that's not really a headphone-specific issue, but if possible could you recommend me something a bit warmer and not as loud in the upper range?
My price point is around $500 but I don't mind saving up for a bit longer if it's worth it. These cans are on my head several hours a day after all.
>>64025659
The ATH-M50Xs are like a gateway headphone into the world of hi-fi. Also, $500 is more than enough to get a fantastic type of headphone.
I'll give you a couple of recs (pros and cons included).
Sennheiser HD650 (http://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-HD-650-Professional-Headphone/dp/B00018MSNI/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1460559284&sr=8-1&keywords=sennheiser+hd650)
Pros:
+ sounds quite good
+ great bass extension
+ scales really well with amps
+ comfy as fuck
Cons:
- leaves you desk-bound
- Sennheiser veil (sound is very laid back and can sometimes come across as though it's being played through a veil)
- can't really be used without an amp
KEF M500 (http://www.amazon.com/KEF-M500-Hi-Fi--Ear-Headphones/dp/B00CYBOUO0/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1460559449&sr=8-1&keywords=kef+m500)
Pros:
+ superb sound quality, mostly neutral with a slight emphasis on bass
+ portable and lightweight
+ great build quality (aluminum body)
+ comfiest on-ear headphone ever made
+ price
Cons:
- clamping force is a little slow so they can slide off your head
- wire is a weird 3.5mm to 2.5mm meaning if it breaks you can't simply replace them
Beyerdynamic DT880 (http://www.amazon.com/Beyerdynamic-DT-880-Pro-Headphones-250/dp/B001B1QENY/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1460559614&sr=8-1&keywords=beyerdynamic+dt880)
Pros:
+ price
+ phenomenal sound
+ build quality
+ soundstage
Cons:
- leaves you desk-bound
- needs an amp
hope this helps
if none of those work, let me know and I'll dig up some others anon

the one of these three that is most comfortable, best looking, and has the most satisfying sound and best bass reproduction is actually the KEF M500s.
These. They're pretty cheap, last about a year and a half per pair (considering I'm constantly wearing them or carrying them in my pocket, that's amazing) and they're comfortable.
I can't stand over the ear headphones. Tried them; even bought a $175 pair which have really nice sound quality, but I just find them uncomfortable for a lot of reasons. These are also easier to carry around.
>>64025853
stop saying normal things
Beats in-ear
I personally love them. I have some minor hearing problems and usually most headphones I have to jack up the volume to a comfortable hearing level or to the point where the audio is clear. With the beats I don't need to cause the clarity is there and I don't have to up the volume. It's preference
>>64025813
Thank you so much for the recs! Youve really helped me out :)
is there a tier list for different price points?
Like is K612 or ATH-M50x better? Is Pioneer 1500 or 2000 any good? For mostly house/techno stuff.
What are some comfy headphones for an old laptop just for listening to music and watching anime?
Shure SRH840
Are Marshall 15200 or Philips A5-PRO any good?

I got the M50's and got two of my friends to buy the M50x's
gotta say that mine are really uncomfortable to wear in comparison to their "upgraded" ones
I wanna get new pads for mine, what's the best alternative?
>>64027348
>Brainwavz Replacement Memory Foam Earpads
i got the pleather ones rather than velor because of isolation, but that depends on your needs.
>>64027532
thanks for the rec m8
just found a 5000 page headfi thread about that too, guess I'll read through that and then buy some dank new pads
sony mdra1-bt
they're alright but desu im a sucker for bluetooth headphones
Yes.
>>64027208
my go to mobiles
very very bad headphones
i break my headphones and grab the next closest pair i can find
>>64022304
Superlux hd668b
Yeah, good headphones for good price.
They used to be $70, then they were cut to $50 or so, then I got em off massdrop from a friend who payed $30, so I technically got them for free.
They like spewing a bit too much treble sometimes. Though, my ears are sensative to harsher sounds.
They sound good though, I like em.
>>64026400
no problem familioso
i'll be here for 15 mins if anyone wants recs... if anyone cares
>>64027999
these are decent cans my man
the main weaknesses (beyond bluetooth ofc) are that they fall apart at loud volumes and the super coloured sound.
Yes because they're cheap and god tier.
