What was the best era of rap?
>>63962108
Now
90s easily. Just the volume of work being put out was insane. 2000s were great as well though
Some modern rap is good, but I like old-school because with modern rap, they don't got nothing to say.
Plebeian=2000s
Contrarian=80s
Patrician=90s
Kinographian=young thugger
87-96
Anyone says otherwise, they have no idea what they're talking about.
The 99-06 underground renaissance
>>63962183
I say 96-04 was the underground renaissance
There's good and bad rap in all eras if hip hop. What's the point in arguing over eras? It's too encompassing. Talk about specific rappers from generations instead. Good music is timeless and Era really means nothing in terms of quality and really only serves as a shallow arguing point.

because what was going on at the time influenced good music, rap was at it's peak in the early 90s.
Happens to be during an important time in America for blacks, if your arguing it's shallow then shiggy diggy doo to you

>2010 rappers
>okay
if you're a rapper right now, who don't pretend we're in the 90's - you suck. All current rappers who aren't complete crap have a 90's sound, or possibly they're 90's rappers who rapper over 90's beats made by pc's (rtj, czarface)

I can't argue with that really, you're right. I was wrong not taking the cultural significance of the music and the context of it.

Open Mike Eagle, Milo, Busdriver, RTJ, Kendrick are all good imo, but I can't really think of many others that aren't shallow.

I forgot about him. I like some of his stuff. Sometimes he's a bit hard to digest, but he's far from shallow.
Best era of rap is early cloud/internet rap
