What does /mu/ think of him?
I don't think I've ever seen a genuine conversation about the man or his music in my 4 or 5 years of coming here. I think many people tend to dismiss his music due to DUDE WEED and other various stereotypes.
So anyway, for those of you who have listened to him, what're your favorite albums? favorite tracks? I'm enjoying Soul Revolution right now, although Catch a Fire is probably my favorite. Or perhaps Natty Dread.
Bob's my all time favorite, I'm huge into reggae. I never mention it on here though because most everyones too stupid to properly dive into the genre.
My fav BMW material is babylon by bus, uprising, kaya, survival.
favorite tracks personally would be the mix up mix up 9 minute demo, come we go up a jerusalem, the yvette tape, place of peace, she used to call me dada, wounded lion in the jungle, you talk too much, still waiting (all three versions)...I could go on and on.

Bob Marley was a musician with the talent of knowing how to make the music liked by many.
he didn't create Reggae, but he did popularise it.
Bob Marley & the Wailers were a great group who made nice albums, and "Babylon By Bus" is a fantastic soulful live album.

One of the musical greats. Will go down in history. Though my all-time favourite Reggae was made by a group called Black Uhuru, and the album is called "Guess Who's Coming to Dinner"

Some would put Tosh/Brown above Marley. I overheard a couple black guys at work saying Tosh/Brown (I forget which) was better but most people liked Marley better because his skin was lighter.

well to each their own but personally I have an intense hate for tosh, and dennis isn't bad but not nearly within my favorites. Song writing ability is undoubtedly Bob though, once you realize it.
Good music. Especially the first few. Simple yet so soulful and you could Jam for it for hours. No reggae acts can replicate him.
