I dreamed that I was talking to Gira and I wanted to give him a sort of fan letter.
He was sick of fan letters, but mine was different. I drawed that weird arm with my blood on a napkin.

If you're familiar with swans it's not a big surprise
>>
>>63952628
It's the shortest of their double albums but I doubt it'll be any less good than TBK or The Seer

Have you people ever listened to The Seer or To Be Kind?
>>
>>63952886
I believe TBK was about 2hrs 3 mins but still, if we can trust Gira on anything it's to produce another masterpiece
>>
>>63952727
Why would you doubt that?

lmao my thoughts exactly
swans are literally virginity: the band
>>
>>63953561
Gira's ironic there, I bet.

I actually think it's not too bad of a song title.

"Finally, Peace."

It adds a certain tone to it. I like it.
>>
>>63953561
whats wrong with that title?
>>
>>63953762
it's the same as calling the centre piece something like "at the edge of total despair, hopeless."
>>
>>63953045
Because Swans have been notoriously consistent from era to era
Once they lock onto a sound they become god tier at it
Look at Filth/Cop, Greed/Holy Money, White Light/LoL and The Seer/To Be Kind

All have had similar conceptual sound and they're all fantastic records
>>
>>63953762
It's just like completely tasteless
>>
>>63953820
I really want you to fucking go away.

Stop posting in every single thread you're the most annoying fucking tripfag in existence.

MAKE SOME FUCKING MUSIC AND PLAY AT GIGS. STOP SHITPOSTING YOU NOLIFE FAGGOT.

What is your problem?
I'm just contributing my opinion to this thread

I do make music, although right now it's still in an embryonic stage because I lack band members.
>>
Is Frankie M as good as people say it is? I haven't listened to any of their recent material
>>
>>63954008
It's unusually uplifitng and melodic for a Swans post-rock track, think Bring the Sun + The Sound

>>
>>63954048
I'm not defending the song I'm insulting you because I don't like you
>>
>>63954048
The title makes sense. This album is planned to be the final one by this iteration of Swans, so maybe Gira is just honest and can't wait to leave festivals and shit and just go on a solo tour to play neofolk in small shady bars full of drug dealers and gay prostitutes.
>>
>>63954048
>insulting song title you haven't even heard
>>
>>63954048
get out, you anime fag
>>
>>63954039
This record is gonna be about love, and To Be Kind had a lot of that on it as well.

This iteration of Swans focuses on a lot of the positives behind making music, it's pretty interesting that a band that makes such punishing and loud music and comes from a no wave background, has had this kind of turn around to making music that is actually about embracing the positive side of life.
>>
Just copped tickets to see them in July
>>
>>63954249
Damn, imagine Gira finally making music about rising out of the ashes of pain and despair

Can you imagine the same man behind Failure, Cop and Power for Power making something happy and beautiful?
>>
>>63954080
p cool
>>63954157
Yeah, but doesn't make it valuable.

The thing that is so great about it is how earned it feels. And how he makes this positive about the sonic experience, not necessarily the song writing, there are of course a lot of positives in there too, but it's not hamfisted.

Take "The Apostate" for example, on first listen, 2nd, third, 5th, listen, you look at this song in the context of the album as this dark behemoth, an image that has been perpetuated by virtually all critics that reviewed it. It's all about how it's punishing, loud, dark, DARK DARK DARK. But when you listen to Gira talk about this iteration, the things he has to say about the experience on working with these people and making this music live on tour. You start to realize maybe it isn't so dark.

The Apostate lyrically feels like the band rejecting the physical world and everyone but the sound in that moment, it's all about transcending to a higher place inside of that moment.
>>
rumor has it that there's a secret 10 minute track where Michael Gira screams over and over "I DIDN'T RAPE HER"
>>
>>63954490
Apostate is dark? Its the grooviest banger on the album. If my friends had any sense of humor and taste I'd play it on house parties because its so great to dance to and freak out.

G G G GET OUT
>>
>>63952727
>doubt it'll be any less good

wow, I've never seen someone choke the life from a sentence. Impressive.
>>
>>63953994
>I do make music, although right now it's still in an embryonic stage because I lack band members.

So what you're saying is that you don't make music?
>>
>>63953897
>you're the most annoying fucking tripfag in existence.
Montie is far worse.
>>
>>63953561
i'm sure if you listened to every swans record from the reformation up until the glowing man one after the other you'd realise that naming the last track of this era 'finally, peace' is really fitting
>>
Quantity != Quality

Seriously...how many fucking albums are these guys going to release about the Sun?
