I don't dislike the music, but everyone needs to acknowledge that the connection to 9/11 is practically non-existent. If Basinski had completed the album a week earlier, would it even have its own Wikipedia entry? Not likely.
At most, it's a coincidental masterpiece. It deserves its place in the 9/11 Museum, but the Pitchfork review shit is wildly misguided.

The Residents - Demons Dance Alone is about 9/11
Several songs off of The Legendary Pink Dots - All the King's Horses are too
Laurie Anderson - Heart of a Dog discusses it as well
>>63934574
No. The music is good even if you ignore the circumstances.

Dream Theater released a live album onn 9/11 2001
The best part is that it had twin towers on fire on the cover and the cover art ws later replaced

"I Like to Watch" by Chris Korda/Church of Euthanasia (2002) is as close as you'll get.
>I put my hand in my pocket - what do I feel?
>One-hundred-ten stories of concrete and steel
>I like to watch... the planes going in
>I like to watch... the flames shooting out
>People dive into the street
>While I play with my meat
>My steel melted, and my tower is coming down...
idk, i listened to it once and watced the youtube vid where it's just smoke coming from the towers and just kinda spaced out. it's quite a powerful image and a kind of soothing yet unsettling loop. i dunno if it's a great artistic statement or anything but it was certainly a unique experience.
being jaded and cynical about everything isn't actually a healthy way to live you know. but then, this is /mu/ so i guess you can only expect so much
>>63934574
so what happened?
basinski finished the album on the same day as 9/11 and listened to it for the first time as the towers were going down?
Look what I got bitches. Only 1000 in the whole world fuckers
I Would rate this album a strong 9/11

I honestly wish this didn't coincide with 9/11 because the music itself got overlooked by many critics that praised the anthology simply because it served as a memorial to jerk themselves off to. It should be noted that none of these albums were inspired by 9/11 at all. Basinski just happened to finish the project the morning of 9/11. It's such a pathetic joke.
That being said, the albums are masterpieces in their own regard.
