What are your favorite Loveless copycat albums? Pic related.
>>63932082
Crash City Saints
LSD and the Seach for God
Fleeting Joys
These are pretty good MBV copycats.

>What are your favorite Loveless copycat albums? Pic related.
Everything my boy Scott Cortez does.
>>63932411
I wouldn't say anything, but he does have some nice projects.
Do you have a favorite of his?
>>63932497
My favorite Cortez shit is pretty much the usual Xuvetyn, PSUB, Crush...
Truthfully I'm not into Star now that I think of it. They had like one song I liked. I don't remember which.
>>63932358
>Fleeting Joys
fuck yes
>>63932497
>>63932714
I'm partial to WNSS myself
>>63933545
Also a very good one.
What we really need is an album by him that find a balance between his most tender sounds and his most harsh.
LOL i just took a shower /mu/gaze for this feel?????
lol bowery electric s/t is a pretty good example for this lmao sounds aquatic lol altho it doesn't havv feel ing of coming out of shower, a sterility of sorts it what i'm looking for KEKKK

>>63932082
Medicine - Shot Worth Self Living
Pretty funny that In the Presence of Nothing there's a ripoff of Don't Ask Why, I think around the middle of the album
>>63932082
>>63939137
>Shot Worth Self Living
>Loveless copycat
You're being rather liberal with the word "copycat" right now.
>>63939264
Have you listened to the album? Aruca is literaly an edit of Soon
Or maybe you were listening to the album and moaning about girls on /r9k/ so you weren't paying attention
t. Ad Hominem
So besides Deafheaven, what good blackgaze is there?
>>63939356
Soon being the last song and the album, and the worst in my opinion, I always just skip it whenever I'd listen to Loveless.
So no I didn't notice that.
>>63939482
Yeah Soon isn't that impressive, it drags on for too long. I feel guilty when skipping tracks when listening to an album
I would say the worst is Only Shallow though, Bilinda's vocals are really grating on this one
>>63939482
>>63939577
Worst is actually Blown a Wish.
>>63939682
Blown a Wish is my second favorite after To Here Knows When.
>>63939577
>drags on for too long
Far, far too long, especially considering that What You Want ends prematurely and the end serves as an interlude into Soon.
With Only Shallow, I just cling to the groove and try my best to ignore the vocals. I'm not a fan, either.
>>63939682
Not even remotely the case.
>>63939682
Second to worst for sure
When I first listened to Loveless I always confused Come In Alone and that one, huge difference in quality to be honest
>>63939750
Yep, I think they made it that way so that they could play it at "parties" or "raves". Honestly I feel that Glider drags on for less than Soon (Glider is legitimately a decent track)
What You Want is a very underrated track
>>63939482
>Soon being the last song and the album, and the worst in my opinion, I always just skip it whenever I'd listen to Loveless.
>>63940340
I don't feel bad about that, especially considering that Loveless is the inferior My Bloody Valentine album.
If anything, I commend Kevin and company for putting the worst song at the end so I can skip it without ruining the album's continuity.
>>63940472
Why don't you like dance music?
>>63940472
Do you like Isn't Anything or mbv more than Loveless? Or both?
>>63932082
I'm so torn between this album, so much of it I like but so much if it is just boring. My favorite part is when the guitar riff comes back in at the end of Periscope tho
>>63939389
Alcest is arguably better if you want more influence from dream-pop and DSBM than shoegaze and screamo.
An Autumn For Crippled Children and Cold Body Radiation are both great if you like dense post-punk-gaze with some light BM elements.
Lantlos and Heretoir aren't really my thing but are worth checking out if you like the French sound.
>>63940516
Isn't Anything.
>>63940508
Because I don't dance, I suppose?
I'm not sure where you got that idea from, though. I don't typically separate music into something I dance-able and not dance-able when I'm listening to it. In any case, VDC is one of my favorite albums and people often call it dance music. Similarly I often fantasize about dancing to Deep, Deep with a cute girl, so I wouldn't say that I'm against dance music.
>>63939190
Wrong. This uses white noise guitar, Loveless uses vaccuum cleaner guitar.
>>63940642
>Similarly I often fantasize about dancing to Deep, Deep with a cute girl, so I wouldn't say that I'm against dance music.
The HANL song?
>>63940670
Yes. I think it's rather dance-able.
>>63939356
No need to be rude. We are such a niche community, we must all love and respect ourselves
I've not listened to any new shoegaze/dream pop in years.
Whats some good shit? Maybe some recent recordings or older stuff I've not yet heard.
Some of my favorites are
Slowdive
Sweet trip
LSD and the search for god
Asobi seksu
Ecstasy of st theresa
Astrobrite
Lovesliescrushing
Chapterhouse
Ghostface Killah
Bailter space
Flying saucer attack
Vidulgi ooyoo
Kinoko teikoku
My bloody valentine
Tokyo shoegazer
A couple bands with chinkish names I cant write with this keyboard
Etc

>>63941203
Coral, I would assume.
>>63941134
Yuri Gagarin
So where do we go now that trips have ruined /shugazi/?
>>63942575
time to od
I need a warm, fuzzy wall of guitar chords that I can get enveloped in like a pile of comfy blankets.
What should I check out?
bump
>>63932082
LSD and the Search for God, pretty much.
I haven't found much in the way of MBV copycats.
>>63942982
Crisis Arm is pretty comfy
Whirr is also a good choice
>>63943935
mmm I'm digging crisis arm
whirr is definitely along the lines of what I'm after, I've heard their discog though
>>63943962
Try Belong, too
Common Era is a good album
>>63943986
digging this too
thanks, based anons
>>63942575
I don't understand.
Am I your enemy?
>>63944138
trips are not welcomed anywhere, there are lurkers and poster who just want you to go away. arguing doesn't seem to work
>>63942710
that's what I'm thinkin boyy
fuck that other shit
Why is shoegaze a 'production nightmare?'
Loveless and m b v are the main examples, but a lot of other shoegaze records have gone through a shitload a trouble and hangups during their creation.
What gives?
>>63947970
Which other shoegaze records?
I wanna hear about some.
>>63947970
The main problem with Loveless was that he wanted it to sound perfect and the label kept making him go to cheap, unreliable studios, right?
i'm so ready for today, whats some happy gaze for a bright sunny hot day?
>>63939704
This. Loveless is best when it's droney.
>>63940472
>not being hooked by that groovy bassline and catchy flute melody on Soon with that tambourine in the background
The ending's also one of the most glorious outros too. Makes you feel nostalgic for the track while you're still listening to it.
>>63952028
Airiel - The Battle of Sealand

Damn you guys just nailed my exact thoughts on this album exactly.
People always shit on Blown A Wish but its so fucking dreamy and ethereal. Its what the fucking album is all about.
>That outro
>ohhh ohhh oh ohhhh

You'll Never Get To Heaven

Anyone ever listen to these guys? The production is nuts..

Best shoegaze record.
Hey shugazi i got asked what kind of music i listen to yesterday, i said liked golden age hip hop and ambient. The hard part was i had to explain the latter.
I didn't bother saying that i liked shoegaze because i knew i had to explain it.
Like i wasn't going say I like distorted effect pedal driven rock and roll with whispered vocals.
How would you describe shoegaze to normies shugazi?
also thanks for hearing out my blog
>>63953005
the way that it was produced it makes that track sound like it could belong in some metal-gaze album
>>63954427
Rock with ethereal walls of sound and soft vocals
