just ordered this on vinyl
>>63927698
I just ordered 2 chiptune dubstep records.
I can't feel like I've made a terrible mistake.
how much does the amp matter? Is there a big differance between different amps? I'm looking to buy an amp and have found cheap ones online.
These are the ones im thinking of
Marantz PM240
YAMAHA A 460
Pioneer SA-740
Anyone even bothering with RSD this year? Only two things that interest me are the Lush box and that live Sun Ra album.

>what ya getting
I should stop buying novelty records but I just can't help myself when an opportunity like this presents itself
You just know scalpers will be selling this for >$150 on ebay within a month, getting it for <$50 feels too good to pass up

don't know if it's the right place, but what's a good, cheap turntable that I can attach a 5.1 sound system to? really newb question, just trying to get into vinyls some time in the near future.
I have a question boys
I have a lot of vinyl albums but my player recently started acting up. By buzzing and going a bit too slow.
The player I had just had a built in speaker and I didn't really fiddle with the turntable at all other than plugging it in and turning it on. I know nothing about good speakers or anything else that should be bought with a turntable. It was really budget and entry level, and I'm looking to get something a bit better.
What turntable/speakers/other peripherals can I get for like 100$?

What model is it?
>What turntable/speakers/other peripherals can I get for like 100$?
You're looking at used gear at that price point.

Vinyl records are strictly stereo. Maybe you could hook up a turntable to a reciever with 5.1 speakers. If your receiver supports phono, buy a used turntable and it will (probably) work, if it doesn't, you will either have to get a new turntable with a built in preamp, or a turntable and a pre-amp.

>cheap turntables
The very least you want to go for is an audio technica LP-60. We're talking absolute baseline. It's not perfect but it won't fuck up your records as hard as other cheapos will.

Quadraphonic records exist. I don't know if anyone makes them these days though.

Turntable I have is https://www.amazon.ca/Crosley-Radio-Turntable-Portable-Mahogany/dp/B00BMFYYO0
It was 70$ at the time I bought it, and is about 15 months old.
Could probably go up to 200$ if it's worth it. Is it just speakers and a turntable to look into, or is there other stuff that is also essential?

>Is it just speakers and a turntable to look into, or is there other stuff that is also essential?
A receiver. You plug the turntable and the speakers to the receiver. Make sure the receiver supports phono input.
Also, Crosley is shit and it's better to buy used unless you want to spend too much money.

If you want good sound cheaply you could get an used P-Mount turntable (~$50) and buy an AT92E cartidge (~$25) for it. You'll need a pre-amplifier as well, I don't know how much those cost since I have it integrated on my amp.

How difficult is it to install a cartridge?
>>63931050
>>63931036
ok, thanks for the info. price range should be around $200-250 usd including a pre-amp to achieve what i want. any brands you reccomend?
>>63931790
Not difficult at all
>>63931790
It depends. There are two popular standards for cartridges. P-mount and the half inch mount. P-mounts are basically plug and play. The most you have to do is remove one screw to change the cartridge, you just pull it out. The downside is that P-mounts have less adjustments, it's all supposed to be standardised so you don't have to change anything. Half inch mount offers more tweaking possibilities at the cost of making the installation harder.

Picked these bad babies up along with Coryell/Mouzon - Back Together Again for about $30

Forgot pic.

How can I tell if a turntable in p-mount or not?
>>63932136
P-mounts usually have a logo that says "T4P" on the turntable. The cartridges look different too, see pic.
Thank you guys you have been a huge help.
