RELEASE TODAY

I'm loving it so far, what is the consensus here? Even better than Ravedeath?
>>
I've never listened to Hecker

Would this be a good start or should I go elsewhere
>>
It's mediocre and easily one of his weakest albums.
>>
I hope it's better than Ravedeath considering Ravedeath was one of the best albums ever released

Cuckfork Didint give this BNM tho
>>
Good album but nowhere close to AOTY.
Ulver - ATGCLVLSSCAP
Dagir Du - Uriel Wavv
iTAL tEK - Hollowed
Ash Koosha - I AKA I
Boris with Merzbow - Gensho
Skee Mask - Shred
Roly Porter - Third Law
Matmos - Ultimate Care II
>>
worse than virgins.

Tim Heidecker makes music?
>>
>>63898788

Thanks for the recs, will listen (loved that Matmos)
>>
>>63898739
Nah, Ravedeath was honestly better imo but I do think this is better than Virgins, Imaginary Country or Harmony in Ultraviolet
>>
>>63898843
Same, great album, grows on me with each listen
>>
Mirages is better
>>
>>63898839
well... yyeah tho

You have 10 seconds to guess the Fantano score for this album.

updated it 2 months ago, here you go senpai

>>63898739
its not better than Ravedeath nor Virgins but I think other than that it doesn't have much competition in Hecker's discog save for maaaybe Radio Amor

strong 7, light 8

This is the most boring and uninteresting piece of shit I've listen this year.
>>
>>63898991
I take it that you don't listen to much ambient.
>>
>>63898739
I've been listening to this album since it leaked and loved it

Now I like it even more because there aren't those obnoxious gaps between tracks

AOTYSF
>>
>>63898739
7/10. Not better than Ravedeath or Virgins, but still good.

Castari Stack and Live Leak are great though.
>>
>>63899008
does the album sound any different than the leak?
>>
>>63899020
Bijie Dream, Up Red Bull Creek and Voice Crack are the 10/10 tracks

>>
>>63899068
lmao i love ambient but this is Hecker's worst and a shit ambient release in general, fuck off pleb
>>
>>63898775
Agree, i heard it when it was first leaked. Beyond disappointed.

>>

dont forget stars of the lid
>>
>>63899105
nice attempt to bait me into spoonfeeding you good ambient

not gonna happen tho, keep on listening to those
>>
>>63899035
A little cleaner bit-wise and the gaps between tracks (that made the leak difficult to stomach, for me at least) have been closed
>>
Didn't blow me away or anything but he is releasing a soundtrack this year as well which I'm guessing is more in the same vein as Virgins and Ravedeath since this album seems like more of a distraction than anything else.

I'm going to go ahead and make the bold claim that he saved his best material for the soundtrack.
>>
>>63899140
How's that autism treating you, anon?
>>
>>63899140
Are you new here? this is a meme older than the board itself. I don't want your shitty backpambient recs.
>>
Castrati Stack is my favorite banger by him, wish the album had more
>>
>>63899212
Piano Drop is his best banger track though... everybody gotta love it if its loud enough
>>
>>63899044
I also really like Voice Crack.
>>
>>63899166
dunno but im enjoying some dank ambient you've never heard of right now, not this unacceptable trash from hecker, he really took a nosedive here

It doesn't work like that.
>>

I bet it's really obscure artists like Stars of the Lid and Helios right?

hecker and opn are trash mu likes to pretend they're into electronic music

>>
>>63899325
I'm not saying he saved it on purpose.
It's just that his compositions in more familiar ground are probably going to be a lot better so the soundtrack is probably going to be better than this album.
>>
>>63899391
I don't understand how an indie movie nobody will ever see should incentivize him.
I honestly expect him to just phone it in and reuse material or throw some b-sides into it.
>>
>>63899351
but OPN is actually good

>>
>>63898788
>Ulver
And dropped
>>
Ravedeath had higher emotional peaks, but overall this is my favorite of his.
>>
It's not horrible, and it is actually my AOTYSF, but it just lacks what I like in Tim Hecker's music. The beautiful subtlety and explosive dense noisey-ness isnt as prominent. There are a lot of cool textures and Im okay with with the vocal stuff but it wasn't implemented as well as the pianos on Virgins or the organs on Ravedeath or the granular samples on Haunt Me.
>>
What is actually upsetting is that his next album will be in 2-3 years, that is unless he's not gonna release it at all, due to leak.
>>
>>63900057
agreed. Hope Swans are going to fix the bad taste in my mouth this year.
>>
>>63898775
wanted to like it but it's his worse album in a long time

LMAO nerds in this thread that think Virgins was good because Fantano said so and not a piece of pop trash. At last a return to form for Hecker, Love Streams AOTYSF
>>
>>63900269
watch fantano give this an 8 or 9 and every plen here will change their mind

Virgins was awful also. Ravedeath was his last good one.

:3
>>
>>63900315
I said Virgins was awful. WTF. Ravedeath was quality. Love Streams is a return to form.
>>63900314
True that, Fantano will give it a 9 because he doesn't understand anything about this kind of music but knows he's supposed to like it.
>>
>>63900122
They will. They always do. Black Eye Man and Frankie M are as good as anything there ever done.

I'm a huge Hecker fan but just couldn't get into it as much as his other albums. There are some great songs (Violet Monumental, Castrati Stack) but those don't seem to recognize their full potential, and the combination of more synths and the chopped-up vocals is kind of a mess at times.
If this is another major stylistic shift for him then he may still be finding his feet. I predict the next album will be better.
>>
i really dug this. the vocals add instantly accessible human emotion to the music, where the choppiness of the mix of vox/synths remind me of clouds wizzing in front of the sun.

there's so much going on, from a technical perspective alone this record is at least a strong 7. i need more time with it, but the first few listens have always left me wanting more.

except for the first track. i hate the first track. it's jarring and annoying with no reward for your patience.
>>
>>63900241
kek

sauce?
>>
>>63901474

What patience? The first track is short and catchy.
>>
>>63900451
I agree with this chart except on virgins location, I'd put it at 4th place

overall 9/10, good ears my friend

>I like it, except for the pauses between the tracks
>wait for the official release, hoping it has no pauses between tracks, like Radio Amor, Mirages, Ravedeath.
>it doesn't, there's even a bigass pause between Violet Monumental I and II

what the fuck Tim?
>>
>>63900381

" he doesn't understand anything about this kind of music but knows he's supposed to like it."

what the literal fuck? do people actually think like this? hecker's stuff is extremely accessible. its hard not to like, even. what exactly does he not "understand" ?
>>
>>63901913
I wouldn't go that far, most people I know can't get into this music, but I do agree that his music isn't outright hostile to general unknowing audience like some other genres. So I think even Fantano can honestly appreciate Hecker without pretending.
>>
Tim's best easily, blown away by first song honestly, great production 9/10
>>
>>63899984
>having taste this shit
Lol
>>
I like how polarising this album is. Some love it, some hate it, some hate the first track, some love the first track, some think its better than Ravedeath, some think its the worst thing ever... the fact that its so hard to find consensus on Hecker's work or ranking of his discog is I think a positive sign meaning that his output is always pushing boundaries.
>>
>>63901827
What the fuck are you talking about, no there isn't
>>
>>63902572
I'm listening the digital version, u on the vinyl ?
>>
>>63901555
It was in a Whats in Your Bag video I think. They just picked albums which they could make a joke out of. Kind of disappointing.
>>
>>63902250

might have exaggerated a little, but it really is accessible if you have an open mind. its all extremely melodic and usually beautiful and cinematic. i got my friend who listened to mostly trap and dubstep and deathcore into hecker. the notion that you need to """understand""" it on some deeper level is just ridiculous to me
>>
No, this.
>>
>>63903020
its not so much about understanding it on a deeper level but actually willing to be an attentive listener and if all you listen to is rap and dubstep you have to have an open mind and get acquainted with music having no rhythm. Other than that yeah I can't see how somebody would dislike Hecker. But he does place some requirements on the listener which make him unviable for most top40 listeners.
>>
people like this? i can make this shit in one night, just fiddle around on my keyboard with random presets and make an entire album of this shit
>>
>>63903169

yea? lets hear it bro
