the humor comes from how absolutely bland, inoffensive, and completely vapid the lyrics are.
He basically perfectly recreates the nashville, country-rock sound to the point where it dissolves the line between parody and the actual subject of ridicule.

I think this a rare serious attempt at 'real' music from Tim. Yeah it's pretty generic but I wasn't expecting to hear an avant-garde masterpiece from him. He's a very competent musician and for once he's putting his energy into something that isn't slathered in irony and I commend him for that.

Because The Comedy and Entertainment weren't serious? Tim does serious stuff, this album will probably have some peculiar lyrics on it, but it is a "serious" project. You can tell when Tim is playing a character and making art and when he's just himself making something.
