I went to a lecture by him a few days ago. He's suprisinly red pilled. He was literally just unironically bashing political correctness, but in a very rational legit way. All sniffle nose swiping memes aside, he was pretty based.

I'm no expert on Zizek, but it's not necessary to think that capitalism is the root of all evil and still be a socialist or communist.
Certainly global capitalism has proved an effective economic model which has increased overall wealth, brought a great many people out of poverty, and modernized, sanitized, and industrialized a large area of the world.
That said, capitalism has a great many flaws, while it has created and spread wealth, it has also concentrated an enormous amount of money in the hands of a very few, while billions of people live in poverty. Capitalism has enslaved a great many people and polluted and destroyed environments and fueled wars. But on balance capitalism has had a good effect on the world - that said, a socialist system would have the same positives but with a more equal distribution of wealth, and natural resources would be managed responsibly by society rather than irresponsibly by a greedy few. Compared to cronyism and ultra-corruption that is the ruling paradigm in Russia and China (communist in name only), free market capitalism seems utopic.
Zizek is no idiot, he recognizes the successes and positives of capitalism, but he is a communist.
