Animals is the best because it's a great balance between Waters' and Gilmour's talents.

Why is hating the wall a meme? sure it has some filler but it's a solid album otherwise. You either are echoing contrarians or listened to it too much (which in any regards is your own fault). As for the final cut, its a solid 8/10 and quite underrated.

If some anonymous band released that all of you would be hailing it as unkown masterpiece of the 80s.
A lot of people seem to subscribe to the notion that RW took more and more control and thus The Wall and TFC are super Watersy and he's to credit/blame for the good and the bad because of it.
Howver, he had no lesser control and contribution to DSotM, WYWH, or A. One of his big ragrets later in life is that he generously gave away writing credits to the others in the early days, particularly DSotM but also the others. If they were in the room, if they jammed through it while he hammered-out the song, he gave them publishing/writing credits. He doesn't regret it because of the money he had to share, he regrets it because now people think they all wrote DSotM and it was awesome and he took over The Wall and it was mediocre, when he actually did the same 90% of each. TFC is a special case because the band had broken-up, Rick was out, but they had contractual obligations to fulfill so as Dave puts it, him and Nick "floated" into it. But even that album is still the same 90% RW with Gilmour writing some intos and choruses.

vera has a haunting beauty to it that i really appreciate honestly, and the way the narrative goes right into Bring The Boys is pretty moving. In fact, watching the Live in Berlin concert, as well as RW's The Wall Live, those parts pretty much bring people to tears
