You know sometimes I feel like, even with the rise of the internet and technological advancements, things don't move as quickly todays as they did from like '88 - '96 (ie. acid house -> rave -> hardcore -> jungle -> drum n bass -> neurofunk plus you had US garage house turning into uk garage and speed garage that time too .
But then I look back at 2008 and how grime was on its last legs then and dubstep had gone full mainstream and then you also had 4x4 revival uk funky and bassline going strong in the underground; then shortly after around 2010 once dubstep got too saturated and brostep came about you had the post-dubstep and future garage shit come about; and after that you had the deep, dungeon dubstep sound come back and also there was the deep house and garage revival which went mainstream shortly after and "130" and juke/footwork started to break out which there coincided with the breaks/jungle revival; and most recently then you had the very general and hard to pin down "bass music" thing rise up with like a million different influences and styles inside as well as dub techno and minimal house resurgence and lo-fi house/techno come about and weightless grime and shit and probably other shit I've left out too.
It's hard to realize how fast life moves until you take a step back and reflect. And often times it isn't apparent until after it all happens.

electro (the genre) =/= electro (meaning electronic music in general for outsiders and generally design just fidget house and brostep shit).
electro (the genre) basically gave birth to techno and hip-hop. it's not that the definition of electro changed, it's two completely different things. you'll never hear anybody fairly familiar with dance music saying electro for fidget house, just like you'll never hear anybody who's clueless about dance music saying electro for electro.
tldr drexciya IS electro and now that you know, don't ever mix up electro and electro again!

i've been making music for 5 years (including electro, at least trying to but it always end sounding formulaic as fuck and boring - boom boom clap and acid synth) and let me tell you that this is bullshit my dude. just a bad excuse. i'm searching for something else to say but your question is too vague, seems like you're having trouble with some part of the process and you think the answer is hardware, but it's probably not. hardware is fun though, and can be quicker to lay off ideas but in the end it won't help you to make a full tune.

I'm from Atlanta and not only do we have pretty minimal /bleep/ (there's another guy from ATL who used to post here who introduced me to a dnb night a few years back that's all generic UKF-core mediocrity unfortunately), but we have the fucking Tomorrowworld festival, which is the pinnacle of trash corporate-sponsored "dance music".
There's actually a fairly cool record store for DJs near my house that specializes mostly in hip-hop, but also has other mostly used dance music records. But despite that, I have yet to find a decent night here.
There are some alright DJs that stop by to play here every five years or so though. lol
