Sup /mu/, kinda new here but recently I have fallen in love with the Chili Peps. Late to the party I know, but I was wondering if anyone could recommend me artists similar to the sound of BSSM as it is my favorite album by far. I've always listened to their mainstream songs but have recently discovered all of stadium arcadium and BSSM

Its pretty avant garde but listen to Trout Mask Replica. John Frusciante (RHCP guitarist) sited TMR as his biggest influence for BSSM. You definitely can hear the influence when listening to TMR

RHCP is my favorite artist of all time. First of all listen to Frusciante's solo stuff, though it's not too similar to RHCP.
You should also definitely check out Screaming Headless Torsos, especially their first two albums (1995 and 2005).

They're probably the closest I've ever found to a RHCP-like feel, though the music is not too similar, as SHT are more jazzy.

Glad to see this posted. Early Incubus sounds like if RHCP actually had a decent singer (no offence to Anthony lovers), with some heavy Primus and Mr. Bungle influence (who you probably might like too).

Why? Pretty much all of RHCP at that time (except maybe Chad) loved Beefheart and Zappa and stuff like that. Especially Frusciante and Flea
