I was really disappointed with that Southern Family album a few people were hyping up, at least gave me something to give to my step-dad.
The alt scene is still pretty nice from what I've heard, though I honestly don't really know where to look for more of it, probably should pay more attention to the labels it's released under.

There's a lot of great new stuff, and if I had to guess I'd say the more authentic country sound is gaining a lot of popularity since last year. Even the more folky and/or poppy acts like Jason Isbell and Sam Outlaw deliver quality music that's way better than any Nashville bro-country band.
