Hey guys, do you still buy cds? I'm thinking about investing in some of my favorite albums in cd format, but i'm not sure if its worth the extra money/hassle for it. I've got some nice headphones (sennheiser hd600) and I heard the quality will be a lot better, plus the music is there to keep and won't randomly disappear like on some streaming sites (looking at you radiohead b-sides). Thoughts?
My car is old so I still buy/burn CDs. If your car can use an aux cord then don't buy CDs regularly. You don't have to.
However, if you wanna collect physical things of your favorite band then go ahead.

i still buy them. it's nice to have a physical copy and feel like you actually own something
I do, just so I can rip in FLAC and of course it's drastically cheaper than vinyl, that said I do still collect vinyl and cassettes
Anyone got any recent purchases?

I see your radiohead cds, what made me think about this is the removal of all of the radiohead b-sides from streaming websites (now they're only available on the collectors cds)

Yep. I hit up the thrift stores, garage sales, and ebay lots, since you can get a good haul for dirt cheap. Thrift stores are especially good since you'll counter a lot of obscure shit not easily found on streaming, torrent, etc.

pinkerton- great record
because even if I did book a £10 session room, record on a camera a backing, it's more of the same. I'd need to practice loads to play over the top of it, to find its melody, I can't make that sort of noise here, the practice sessions are out of my pocket. Which is why all those recordings are one take, it's so loud. Then even , even if I did, in the £10 a hour practice studio, it's the same thing.
What my going to do with it?
I love owning physical music and CDs are the best in my opinion.
Artwork isn't as cool as vinyl, but other than that I think CDs are superior in my opinion.

i did for a while because i understand they are better than vinyl, but now i realize digital blows both out of the water, so no.
see that's the thing, anybody else would have a reason to do it. I'm in a different scenario, if they don't know me it goes in the bin with everyone else, but if they do know me, it's closed.
it could be the best thing I make in my life-time, but I am switched off. It doesn't make sense then.

When vinyl has proper artwork it's better, but CDs tend to have better booklets and inserts.
