What is the greatest hip hop album ever made?
This. But then again this is a worthless discussion based solely in opinion.
The Cold Vein, Madvillainy, CLOUDDEAD
>>63828032
Top 5 for me definitely.
I used to think the high-pitched vocals on gimme the loot was Sadat X
>>63828006
There is not a single one, no matter what people tell you.
These are some of my favorites:
Outkast -- ATLiens
Wu-Tang Clan -- 36 Chambers
A Tribe Called Quest -- The Low End Theory
A Tribe Called Quest -- Midnight Marauders
Aesop Rock -- Skelethon
Biggie -- Ready To Die
Binary Star -- Masters Of The Universe
Jurassic 5 -- Quality Control
Jurassic 5 -- Power In Numbers
Prince Paul -- A Prince Among Thieves
>>63828091
CloudDead is a compilation
>>63828097
Ya I didn't know they were Big until I checked the feature credits. Ready To Die's just so fucking good man. It's smoke to music, ride to music, rap along with music, it's fun but also sinister and badass as hell
>>63828149
Not to mention the underlying concept too, shit just ties together so well with the string being the easy mo beeats
do people unironically like oldschool hip hop? I mean it's good for a few singles but as a cohesive album? Stuff like Cold Vein/Deltron 3030 might be the exception.
>>63828117
Woaah nigga you wrote Skelethon instead of Labor Days
But really though what makes Skelethon a contender for GOAT rap album for you? Labor Days is one of my favorite hip hop records but skelethon's production gets messy and Aesop's rapping gets a little erratic and directionless, and you can tell he has trouble flowing over some of those rock instrumentals.
Props for prince among thieves though, definitely the GOAT hip hop concept album.

I'm a huge Aesop fan and Skelethon is his only solo other than Float that is flawless, imo. I love everything about it. This is what I always wanted from an Aesop album.
Labor Days is great too. But, imo, it is only his fourth best (after Skelethon, Float & None Shall Pass).
>>63828206
yes they do because not everybody started listening to rap when yeezus dropped and the word cohesive was reborn to mean 40 minutes, 10-12 tracks
>>63828384
I don't know it's just so much filler all the time. Kendrick's work is much better but I'm more into experimental hip hop anyway
>>63828097
THIS
Aquemini by outkast
>>63828006
No rapper comes close to Kanye, and Kanye's best album is either MBDTF or Late Registration.
>>63828384
I don't understand how people can seriously enjoy 90's hip-hop without nostalgia, most of it is trash.
Boring production and elementary school-tier lyrics. Most 90's rappers did have good flow though.
>>63828297
Float's great but it had some filler I thought. Attention Span and Big Bang were my favorites. I just found Labor Days to be such a compelling release thematically.

Can't we have a hip hop thread without shitposting for once?
>>63828664
Post something or kill yourself
>>63828587
>I don't like it so it's trash
>>63828728
What is there to like?
There are a few exceptions, but for the most part modern hip-hop is a lot better.
>>63828686
>he doesn't know who Prince Paul is
Let's all laugh at the retard.
>>63828206
It's pretty much my favorite and I got into Hip Hop recently so it's not really nostalgia
>>63828793
Car Thief is probably one of the best hip hop songs ever made
oh and high plains drifter
oh and sounds of science
>>63828297
Can't wait for the Impossible Kid. The two songs he's released so far have been good.
There's something about his voice or the way it was recorded in all his albums up to Skelethon that just doesn't sound as good as it does on Skelethon or the second Hail Mary Mallon album. It sounds fuller in his more recent albums. Maybe deeper? I can't put my finger on it.

>What is the greatest hip hop album ever made?
Madvillainy is without equal.
I really enjoyed GK/MC, Duality, cLOUDDEAD, anything by ATCQ, anything by knxwledge. Wouldn't necessarily say they're contenders though.
Just post 10/10 HipHop albums, fampies
>>63828433
I'd say that album is full of filler. Loved So It Goes and a few other tracks but that was about it
>>63829353
>Just post 10/10 HipHop albums
okay
>>63828006
Low End Theory
Midnight Marauders
Illmatic
Aquemini
Reasonable Doubt
Purple Haze
take your pic all are great
>>63829353
>>63829322
>Can't wait for the Impossible Kid
Same here. The first two singles are great.
>Skelethon or the second Hail Mary Mallon album
If those are your favorites, you should check out the Cat Food EP and the Skelethon bonus tracks, if you haven't already.
>hip hop
>good
>>63829872
Never get tired of this, 10/10 all across the board
>>63828210
LUM is awesome but i'd say Uneven Compromise is his apex
>>63829939
lmao
surprisingly hard too, KK is just the man when it comes to spitting abstract
>>63829704
The Cat Food EP is great. One of my favorite EPs.
>>63828006
There is no other answer.
