You know what's funny? People like you are exactly why metal is so dominant on the charts. Metal fans are usually quite open minded to other genres, a lot of them do listen to the acclaimed Pitchforkcore albums and some of them even like it and give it high ratings.
The anti-metal people on the other hand usually don't even bother with any metal album due to prejudice against the genre, and as a result metal albums end up with extremely high averages, because only metalheads rate them.
Very few people on RYM center their taste around metal, most metalheads I've seen so far on RYM listen to a lot of other genres too. The opposite is true - fans of p4kcore are the ones who center their taste on that and don't even bother with metal.
tl;dr: RYM's algorithm favors high averages; by letting only metalheads rate metal, you're allowing for all this metal on the charts.
