How about the reverse
His vocal chords got crushed after he was hospitalized for being pushed off a big stage with his amplifier falling on top of him.
His voice became way deeper after that
don't think there's anyone else in his league of destroyed vocal cords
>>63819024
What do you think the rest of the band thinks?

Billie Holiday wrecked her voice with booze and smoking and drugs.
Bono's voice was diminished from Achtung Baby on after years of smoking caught up with him.

this is probably the nastiest i've ever heard his voice go
>>63819784
Booze doesn't effect your vocal chords
It's genetics + chain smoking (smoking every once in awhile doesn't effect your sound)
>>63819668
Well, the all the original members besides Liam and Noel had quit by 1999, so I think its safe to say the rest of the band knew Oasis as a whole were definitely washed up.
Strangely, Noel never said a word regarding Liam's incredibly severe decline in vocal ability. But then again, he's the one getting all the royalties from the songs anyway, so he probably didn't give a shit either way.
>>63819784
>Bono's voice was diminished from Achtung Baby on after years of smoking caught up with him.
Definitely. He was still a great singer in the ZooTV era, but not quite as powerful as the TUF -> TJT days. By the recording sessions for pop and the subsequent live tour, you can really tell his vocals were under a lot of stress. He didn't sound bad by any stretch of the imagination, but his voice noticeably was not the same.

That's objectively false and you're a retard if you believe it
dude from the 1975
i think he does coke or something which is probably why
i still love you jay kay
>>63819887
From what I can tell, his voice has recovered a bit in recent years as he's started taking better care of it. But he's never going to regain the richness he had during his peak 80s years.
On a tangent, it's odd how Bowie retained a pretty strong voice right till his last album, despite being a lifelong chainsmoker and terminally ill at the end.
>>63819837

I know Noel wrote 95% of the songs, and only he and Liam get the public spotlight. But for me personally, the band will never be the same unless they get Bonehead and Guigsy back. They helped make the band prime 90s Oasis
Chris Cornells voice got fucked in the late 90s
>>63820451
Oh yeah, they were part of the whole package. For a stoner shut-in and 30 year old with two kids to go from working class small time indie band members to part of the biggest band in the world was inspiring for many as much as Liam's voice and Noel's songs.
The singer of Jeromes Dream didn't use a microphone while singing live, he just screamed unamplified on top of the instruments. His voice got so fucked up that he couldn't scream on their last album.

Last month:
>During the rest of the chat, the man said he hardly misses Oasis or his brother these days. "No. And Liam is not a good singer anymore," he said.
>>63820705
It only took him a good 15+ years to figure that one out
Of course, I imagine he wouldn't have been able to say shit like that while Oasis were still together for risk of bad publicity and/or hurting Liam...
>>63819024
what happened to his voice bruh
>>63820764
why would your voice stay the same after a decade
your liver, your heart, your brain, your kidneys, and even your vocal chords die with age
>>63820790
he's not that old though, what about all those old ass niggers from the slave days that are like 110 and can still sing bass notes like kings?
>>63820764
Improper vocal technique + years of constant wear and tear + drinking/smoking/drugs + general poor health + not doing anything to alleviate any of the above
>>63820832
how can you fuck it up that bad after being so good all you gotta do is use your diaphragm
Liam Gallagher is a living PSA against hard drugs. The man aged 30 years in the span of a little over a decade. Listen to that clip in the OP. He fucking sounds out of breath the entire time.
Oh but it's "proper fucking rock and roll" to do that kind of shit.
>>63820895
He belted and sang with his throat (and later his nose, when his throat was good as fuck) trying to emulate punk singers.
>>63820832
Layne Staley got professional vocal coaching from his teens, maybe that's why his voice held up comparatively well despite the abuse. His teeth were starting to rot out around the time Unplugged was recorded and he still sounded pretty great.
>>63819024
axel is an easy one
How do I keep my voice from going like this, as a singer?
I don't smoke and I only drink moderately.
>>63820635
I like Gem and Andy Bell too, I think they are better musicians than Bonehead and Guigsy, but as you said Oasis is a package. Will never be the same unless they get them back. Don't really care too much about the drummer tho
>>63819572
um, Leonard Cohen?
Chino and Maynard
I'm not a fan of her later stuff because of it.
>>63822662
Work on breathing. Sing from the stomach rather than the throat. Think of your throat as just a slider which picks out the note and your stomach as the force that pushes the air through to make the note come out.
>>63822925
Yeah I've already learned how to sing from my diaphragm, it's how I got out of singing like shit and being able to control pitch/volume better.
What I want to know is if there are any habits or routines I could use to make sure that I don't strain my voice too much, and especially now that Im doing stuff with shouted vocals, though not too regularly.
Pic related's voice is shot now, but I think it sort of adds to the bedraggled spiritual wiseman image
>>63819024
Liam wasn't ever a particularly impressive singer, but Christ that's alarming
this has to be the JUST vocal performance:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C3rg4psdHxw
may i join in?
>>63820060
How is his voice fucked though? They just released a new album and his singing is pretty good IMO.
>>63823099
I saw him live last year. Vocals were fucking gone. MM should just retire, his whole public enemy number 1 facade worked in the 90s but people now see through that and see him as a joke.
>>63823264
I like his latest album 2bhonest
it is true though that his live performances aren't anything like they used to be and seem lazy, but they are bareable if he's not completely wasted
>>63819024
He even sings falsetto live here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O8Ii2jcd30A
wouldn't do it later, because it "sounded gay", but he couldn't do it anymore anyway. Fuck Liam.
>>63820945
Am I gay or is he sexy in this photo?
>>63823303
It was a good show still. But yeah vocals were shit and he was pretty lazy. He kept knocking over Twiggy's mic stand to be 'edgy'.
>>63823392

Fug. Kids, don't smoke or do cocaine.
I would say "John Lennon" but his destroyed voice still sounded pretty cool
>>63823015
he'll be okay
Hi guys!
>>63819572
thats what you get for singing like a barking dog for 30 years
>>63819829
this is not an example of his voice being broken though, this is an example of the singing he's done that's caused his voice to get fucked up

>C2-C6
Nigga do you even count?
>>63826031
he didn't start singing like that before the 80s
>>63826590
listen to small change (1976)
it's not weird instrumentally but he still growls like a madman
>>63826705
I am familiar with Small Change, and yeah he does sing pretty gruff but it's nothing like what he started on Swordfishtrombones
The vocalist of Vektor will have a fucked up throat in 2 years max desu.
