All of their albums are a little uneven. A list of the 20 best Ween songs would include at least 2 from each album, probably. And a list of the 20 worst Ween songs would include at least one from each album, probably. They go so far out onto limbs, that some of their experiments are guaranteed to be bad, but that's fine.

I think you may have misunderstood. I'm not saying they only have 20 good songs, just that the 20 absolute best cover their entire career. Ween is one of my top 5 music groups/artists of all time, and I love probably >100 of their songs, but I can't point to a single album of theirs and say it's perfect, because none of them are.

Because hipsters. And honestly Quebec does come close I think but I perfer the nautical theme of this one and most every song fits the theme and is awesome. Their best album cover too. It's so fucking good. And amazing stoned.

The lyrics/delivery are funny, his voice is golden and the melody is fantastic.
But fine, to address your Q, that album -is- their least favorably reviewed and their style changes from song-to-song really so I'd keep checking out.
Though a lot of Ween's lyrics are tongue in cheek/down right silly so that's part of the deal
