Start with Space Oddity and then go album to album throughout his discography until you hit Scary Monsters and Super Creeps. The rest of his 80s stuff is shit but his 90s output is alright (Outside is a fantastic record though). Bowie's 00s albums are great especially Heathen. His last two albums are even better than the 00s material. Blackstar is an amazing conclusion for such a legend.

I started with The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars, and then moved on to Diamond Dogs and Aladdin Sane because I really enjoyed the glam stuff. After I started to enjoy his stuff due to his quality of musicianship and not just the sound he produced I moved onto stuff more outside my comfort zone I guess with things like Hunky Dory and his debut. From there I went on to the Berlin trilogy, and I now rank Low as my number one favourite album.

looking over this list it's pretty phenomenal Bowie released so many albums and only two of them aren't really worth listening to (even then, there are still some good tracks on them)

If you want to get a good idea of his chameleonic style, listen to his entire output from 1970 to 1980 (except maybe Pin-Ups), but if you want his artistic peak listen to Low and Heroes.
