I'm back, /mu/. You know the drill; use these lyrics for your music player or whatever, and maybe help me finish Topical Solution and Constellations? Okay.
And Duster general, I guess.
Contemporary Movement's digipak.
Diamond is missing, can't help you guys there.
contemporary movement is the better album
>>63763519
i wish you guys would stop posting this album so much
the faggots on this board are going to turn it into the next long season
Aaaaaand some attempts at deciphering 1975.
MEMPHIS SOPHISTICATE:
I can't get it out
The way I'd like to put it down
The way I hear it in my head
When I cannot sleep
Or cannot awake
It's clouds
Across the sky
The moon can hide
Behind
You'll never hear it like I do
When the brakes give way
And the engine stalls
Dropping out
Fading out
Burning out
AND THINGS (ARE MOSTLY GHOSTS)
Are you compelled
Enough to leave your seat?
Nothing like what makes
The good books good
Cannot help but believe in those curves
And make a habit of having that happen
Celebrity fever draws me to you
Clear crystal compound
From head to toe
Hold on to me
One hundred years
Into orbit
[Song's easily as good as the best stuff from Stratosphere, by the way.]
WANT NO LIGHT TO SHINE:
Who is she?
Bearing your love?
Again
Save us...
Finish it...
Close to me...
[Like before, criminally underrated. Possibly the most beautiful song Duster recorded.]
>>63763830
I honestly haven't seen it in a few weeks. It reached its peak in January/February, and kinda died down after that.
Also,

i hate to be this douche, but does anyone have mega links for any of their other albums or ep's besides stratosphere? every link in the archive has been deleted

hey, this is what i have tried to decode from topical solution:
hands used to turn it on or turn it up
maybe sometimes turn it off
when it gets too late
the enemy is ????
hair is on fire
the hat’s unbecoming
cautious
so rock out, rock out, rock out, rock out
and all the kids fell out
the ??? story
sharing ??? the magazines
we all turn out to be crazy
in the middle of the night
don’t ???
the wheels on the wagon
turn off and turn out
??? i can see the topical solution

this is my favorite album ever.
topical solution is the best song of all time.
>>63764416
exactly...
>>63764371
It's alright, man. It took me fucking forever to get it as good as it is. I used my nice Sennheiser's with the vocals EQ'ed to death, and had to play it at least fifty times.

why does it always seem like Duster has the best fanbase on /mu/?
>>63764520

Does anyone have any album art for on the dodge or the demos collections?
Hey, can someone clarify the tracklisting for Hier Kommt der Schwartze Mond?
The Discogs tracklisting is as follows:
1. Hier Kommt Der Schwartze Mond
2. Abheben In Stereo
3. Feuerprobe / Feuertaufen
4. Die Wolken Werden Stufenleitern Absinken
5. Triumph Der Metall Menschen / Durchschauende Meere
6. Frequenzumsetzer
7. Geburt Zum Tod In Zeitlupe
8. Traum Wissenschaftler
https://www.discogs.com/Valium-Aggelein-Hier-Kommt-Der-Schwartze-Mond/release/2269091
The Discogs picture of the back of the LP sleeve has a funny layout, must have confused whoever uploaded the album, because side 2's tracks are listed in reverse.
So are the songs themselves out of order, or just the titles?
>>63764891
Some savvy anon could make one. The Duster font (Futura) is widely available online. Otherwise, no, they're literally just pictures of the blank J-card.

>Duster were born out of the wreckage of legendary screamo band Mohinder. Duster originally consisted of Clay Parton and Dove Amber, both of whom can pretty much play any instrument that they pick up. The first release they put out was the Transmission, Flux 7" on which they both play the drums, organ, guitar, and sing. There had been one song, the short and sweet "East Reed" that was released before the 7" on the compilation "Patio Collection Vol. 2" on Smilex. They were soon joined by Jason Albertini (original member of Queens of the Stone Age) who came on board when Clay and Dove were nearing completion on Stratosphere. Although for the first full length Jason was only found playing drums on three tracks, for the next release, the "1975" e.p. Jason was also proving himself to be a multi-faceted musician in his own right (although he had already proven this, if truth be told, with other bands that he had been in) adding hammond, rhodes and piano to his drumming as well as sharing the recording/ producing credits with Clay and Dove. When Her Space Holiday purveyor, and friend, Marc Bianchi asked them to release something for his own record label, the three recorded an album under the name Valium Aggelein. With their second full length release as Duster, Contemporary Movement, all three were involved in all aspects of making the album. When not working on songs as a part of Duster, Clay keeps busy with his project Eiafuawn, and plays in a band named El Buzzard. Meanwhile, Jason plays keyboards as a part of Mike Johnson's band. But at this time, Duster are currently working together on new songs and planning to record soon, and their lineup has recently expanded to include friends Krag and Ross, who play guitar and bass.

>>63767754
This is outstanding.
You really just forgot to add that they were all in VA.
There are others you could add, but they don't really matter.
Dove was in some band recently called Lonnie (something), they were kinda crappy IMO.
Jason has been Built to Spill's main bassist for a while now.
I think he also played with Disco Doom for a while when they toured in the states and there were a few jam band-ish pre-Duster bands (Prime Mover was one, I think).
But like I said they don't really matter and your list is awesome.
I recently picked up Helvetia-A Dot Running For the Dust, their most recent almost-lost record. And it's right up there with my favorite records from my favorite band. If anyone is interested in classic Helvetia please pick it up. Much better than Dromomania IMO.
>>63768979 here, searching through the archives for rare Duster
Goddamn, going through this rabbithole of defunct webpage archives makes me sad.
How long will it be until 4chan turns out to be like one of those defunct websites? What will be it's legacy? Where would we go?
A small memory of what it once was.
We're just building these massive graveyards of of dead websites that once had vibrant communities on the internet and never looking back until it's too late.
What will we be looking back on?
Sorry if I sound like a faggot, but digging up these old sites while listening to old Duster bootlegs is making me feel a bit existential.

It's not about the chords, anon. It's about their sound, what with all the soothing warm strums and the flavor notes they play in between and all. The chords are fairly simple, it's the song in its entirety that's hard to cover properly, or at least IMO.

" Somewhere in the confines between the atmosphere and space lies Duster. Their sound is expansive and broad yet with a tragic sense of being unwillingly contained. They capture a sense of nostalgia and familiarity at the same time as their possession of the sense of fear and hesitation felt in new experiences. With a tragic solemnity, their music conveys a scene of pure exposure on a universal scale."

i know some guy's been going around saying that albertini told him. the duster guys host a message board and people have asked them countless times about reissues and clay's resounding answer has been "no".
also here's some of clay's handwritten lyrics for stratosphere

yeah that makes more sense than what I had. thanks. I kind of know the chords but i believe its impossible to make one guitar sound like the song.
>>63783951
one thing I noticed about constellations that might be the reason why that song sounds so nostalgic in particular is because the guitar riff sounds like a music box. dont know if anyone else thinks that.

it had to fail. otherwise this thread wouldnt make sense
how often will we have a /dust/ thread?

I always do until I do..
>>63790068
I'd love seeing some but unfortunately if it became a super regular thing then it would probably lead to some negative reactions from the rest of /mu/, people used to have threads to talk about and appreciate Cardiacs and now they're a forced meme labeled with buzzwords with numerous threads made to express negativity towards them.
somebody expand upon what's asked here? >>63788641
What is the 1975 cassette?
