>GYBE
>Asunder, Sweet and Other Distress
>>
>>63746660
Definitely that one. So middle of the road.
>>
Why is Asunder so under appreciated? It's at least better than Don't Bend. I think it's my favorite of their releases
>>
>>63746702
>it's at least better than don't bend
The 7" from don't bend is better than the entirety of ASAOD

I may get hate
>>

Nah that's a fair choice. I'd personally say Strawberry Jam.

>It's at least better than Don't Bend

Nope

>>63746738

It's my least favorite album, but started appreciating it a bit.
>>
Testify
>>
>>63746756
Really? You didn't like Peacebone, For Reverend Green or fireworks? The rest I didn't really care about but those made SJ pretty good.
>>
Seeing Mlladic and the entirety of Behemoth/Asunder live was a religious experience.

But why do you think that? I'm a very big fan of drone music, so that's probably why I like it so much, but the opener and closer of Asunder aren't drone and they're both really good. I'm not saying that Don't Bend is bad, though. I just definitely don't think Asunder is worthy of being as under valued as it is. Same with Yanqui
>>
GYBE power rankings?

F#A# (10/10) > LYSF (10/10) > Slow Riot (10/10) > Yanqui (10/10) > ABDA > (9/10) > Asunder (8/10)
>>
>>63746839
Yanqui is great so I agree with you there. But I find the drone parts in Asunder to be very under developed. Also the music itself feels phoned in.
>>
>>63746859
>I find the drone parts in Asunder to be very under developed
if you're talking about the 2 middle tracks, I totally agree
>>
>>63746853
F Sharp A Sharp- 8/10
LYSF- 10/10
Yanqui- 9/10
ABDA- 8/10
Asunder- 7/10

I've delayed listening to Slow Riot for so long it's embarrassing.

I love Asunder but I'd say it's closer to a 6 or 7. ABDA is a solid 8. Yanqui straddles the line for me between 7.5 and 8 even though it is an amazing album, you really have to be in the mood for it.

>not a big fan of Asunder
>still want to buy it in vinyl because of locked groove on side A

What do???
>>
>>63746756
I would take any single track from Strawberry Jam over the entirety of Danse, or Here Comes the Indian for that matter
>>
This or Burning World
>>
>>63746918
Buy it. Unless you don't have Yanqui. In which case buy that or F# cause f# also has a locked groove
>>
>>63746949
hello rym drone
>>
>>63746954

I have almost all of GYBE's albums except for Yanqui and Asunder. Yanqui recently sold out in the local store
>>
>>63746971
Both of the albums he mentioned are incredibly Meh in Swans discog.
>>
>>63746897
Slow Riot is basically a mini version of LYSF minus the ambient sections. You'll probably love it
>>63746900
ABDA has Mladic which basically bumps the score up from a 7/10 to a 9/10 for me. Yanqui is really underappreciated, it's the soundtrack to a war with bombs blasting and bullets flying, and the aftermath.
>>63746949
Yes for Burning World, no for My Farher
>>
>>63746897
You have to listen to Slow Riot
>>
>>63746996
Yanqui's last track is so fucking awesome man
>>
>>63746702
Piss Crowns are Trebled is great, the rest I can leave or take.
>>
>>63747034
Rockets Fall on Rocket Falls is my favorite. The way they incorporate the flanger pedals is really trippy and surreal.
>>63747038
That's not Peasantry though

This piece of shit is the only really bad album he's ever made. I can't be convinced he wasn't taking the piss when he made it
>>
>>63747060
True. Motherfucker Redeemer(cont) is so epic, it is like the soundtrack of survival, but in a manner of courage. Like, you know you are going to die, might as well go out with a bang.

That song is really intense, and how the intro was done still goes over my head.
>>63747131
this 2bh
>>
>>63747199
Really? There are some real charming tracks on there. I'd say Rock and Roll Night Club for sure. I have almost no affection for that record. It's almost hard to listen to, it doesn't even sound like him.
>>
>>63746660
The thing about Asunder that bugged me was that it basically just dedicated 2 entire tracks to what is pretty much filler. It suffers from having a great start, a dull middle and a fantastic ending. I feel like if they just combined some tracks together and made it an EP, I would probably rate it a bit higher than a 6/10
>>
>>63746897
Slow Riot is two of the best songs they have ever made.

I feel like Yanqui is Godspeed at their best as a unit. Maybe not complsitionally but performance wise. They are at their absolute peak there.

rnr nightclubs second half is really good, plus only you is on of my fav mac tracks

>>
>>63747310
It's supposed to be one long song, the tracks are the movements.
>>
>>63747384

Makes sense since side A ends in a locked groove
>>
>>63747384
I still think it probably would have worked better as an EP than an actual studio release. As a studio release it feels kinda underwhelming.
>>
Portishead, Portishead. Live albums don't count.
>>
>>63746918
>>63746954
>>63747409
what is a locked groove??
>>
>>63747486

It's an endless loop with sound
>>
>>63747486
a vinyl gimmick where the record keeps spinning and playing a loop at the end, rather than stopping
>>
>>63746949
this one and the burning world is perfectly fine
i think the burning world might be one of the most important swans albums

the correct answer is to be kind

The second song on Slow Kanada is one of the edgiest, most fedora tipping songs I've ever heard.

Be careful
>>
>>63748449
Yeah, that's one thing about Slow Riot that can help or harm the EP depending how you can take it. I don't know, it may have been slightly overdone. But Moya is unquestionably the best
>>
>>63746897
I'm not a huge fan of GY!BE but you really need to listen to Slow Riot, its fucking amazing
>>
>>63748449
In the first place you don't even know if the band agrees or disagrees with what the guy in the sample is saying. They could just as easily be mocking him as they could be spreading his message. Or they might just have liked the rhythms and sections of the whole interview and decided to time their music to that
>>
This, without question, mang.
>>
>>63748721
To me, they seem to be stunned by what the guy is saying and his personality. You could hear it in the voice of the guy who's asking the questions, like he seemed kind of unnerved. I think it could be detailing the mindset that people have vs the government
>>
>>63747564

Not even a question. Fuck simply removing it, I want to straight up retcon its existence. Shallow Life was a hell of a mistake, one they STILL haven't completely recovered from.
>>
>>63748721

IIRC, the guy was quoting some Judas Priest song in some parts
>>
>>63749229
What was with that? The lyrics were from Iron Maiden's Virus, and he called himself Blaise Bailey Finnegan". Was it the actual Blaze Bayley or was it some delusional guy?
>>
>>63746814
Haha this one for me too. Only song I liked was See you
