I used to sort my music by genre like that on the side and it was so nice but then as I had to seed more and more for private trackers changing tags to be less random/more concise etc led to that not working so much anymore since can't seed right if you change the metadata

Not being able to edit my metadata how I want it would be a major pain for me. I only use soulseek, and haven't had any trouble finding albums in flac (i convert it to 320 though). I might bother getting into a private tracker at some point but is the selection on something like what.cd really that much better than soulseek? I heard it wasn't.
One way I think you *might* be able to get around that metadata problem however, is to use one of musicbee's custom fields for tagging genre, rather than the actual genre field. AFAIK, a lot of the fields you can edit with musicbee aren't saved in the music file itself but rather somewhere in the musicbee folder.

Oh yeah I was looking into that for a while, a way to link genres outside the metadata, probably have to look into that again, it can be a real pain sometimes, but usually no one leeches anyways so I just drop them all and fill a request or something for ratio.
Selection isn't that bad either, only thing is ratio is a bitch to get without requests or a seedbox.

is the number under the title and time the playcount for the album? personally i can't stand dsplaying playcount. I tried it for a while but I got OCD about it because it resets if I notice some audio flaw in a song and download a different version, doesnt count something if i play it on my phone at the gym, unless i want to sync my playcount with last.fm but that's buggy as hell, i could never get all this shit to work right so eventually i decided to just remove playcount from view, delete my last.fm account, and just listen to music without worrying about how many times i've heard something. Idk I guess that's pretty autistic but yeah

because I don't give less of a fuck about eh, losing uh, 64px of my screen? on something that doesn't even look bad to begin with? like I'd make anything more useful with those 64 fucking pixels. I won't feel more "COMFY AWWWWYEA" doing it. I already like my layout a lot.

Try it out. I haven't used foobar so I couldn't compare them, but I like Musicbee a lot. I know it's not as customizable as foobar, but it's definitely pretty customizable. It has nice tagging and file/folder managing tools too, which is nice. Look at the different musicbee layouts on this thread (conveniently pointed out by >>63720842) and see if any of them appeal to you

but after some problems during ricing my layout to its logical conclusions I fucked up MusicBee and now I see how pointless it was to do all of that
