Swans is a band that everyone loves, except for the fans of the genres they belong to. No-wave fans do not think Swans is one of the greatest no-wave bands of all time, post-punk fans do not think Swans is one of the greatest post-punk bands of all time, and post-rock fans do not think Swans is one of the greatest post-rock bands of all time. They are essentially "weird" music for people who are too afraid to venture any deeper into the genres that their music falls into.

My first listen of Filth was definitely an experience.
I listened pretty much only to Radiohead with some indieshit thrown in. I listened to Filth and it was a beatdown. Right from the first track I was feeling it. Once the opening to Weakling started I was just thinking "oh shit."
I've become more desensitized to it now, but it's still really good.
