Grunge
Post rock
Math rock
Shoegaze
Noise rock
Slowcore
Either came from the period or reached creative peak in this time.
Indie rock also really began to take shape in this period

Yeah, probably. Don't discount the 70s though. Just because most people associate it with superior technical playing, the compositions and arrangements of a lot of psych/prog rock are still awe-inspiring.
