To elaborate more. I find it hard to find anything interesting in raw death metal anymore. I used to listen to it when I got into death metal few years back, but since then I listened to so many Tech Death bands and recently brutal and slam bands that raw death metal is just a snoozefest for me.

Yeah that album is hard to get into at first, specially if you're not into techdeath or the sorts (not that Omnipotence is specially technical but their songwriting style really stands out because they are constantly changing from and throwing ideas around and their song structures are anything but conventional to standard death metal). To the untrained ear it almost sounds like improvisation at times, it did for me at first at least, mostly because of their bdm and demilich influence; the rhythmic downtuned chugs with awkward spacing, the absurd non-riffs that, almost, sound like they're playing pin the tail on the diminished scale donkey, followed with some bleep bloop bleep surreal leads, and not to mention the way the instruments interplay with eachother. After listening to an actual improvisational free-jazz inspired death metal band (Uzumaki) I really began to appreciate their method, because it is calculated after all. They manage to string together all this weirdness in a cohesive manner and that's really cool.
