Why has pic related fallen out of favour on /mu/? I listened to it again today for the first time in years and it's still amazing.

It's just the meme cycle. Don't buy into the meme cycle. It will always be amazing.
Familiars too btw.

/mu/ used to be a much more sentimental place. For better or worse, it no longer is. I would argue that it's for the worse, it used to be a nice place to share feels, and even if not much music was being discussed it was better than the mean spirited shitposting these days.

/mu/ is filled with life rejects who have never had enough of a meaningful relationship to actually relate to the emotions expressed in this album. It's probably in my top 5 based solely on its emotional impact, but if I didn't have that connection I could easily see how I could rate it much lower based only on the technical merit of the music.

/mu/ died in 2011 and now we're just shitposting on it's corpse.
Its ok though. Time is circular and eventually we'll all be listening to emo concept albums again.

4chan died in 2011 when companies started monopolizing on its marketing abilities. /mu/ is no different to other websites except the sign-to-noise ratio makes unique opinions more prevalent.

I don't think it really has. I'll always like that album
