My questions are, what is the best way to take care of this guitar? The "aging", in part, came from parents smoking constantly. Mom is dead now and dad has only been smoking in one part of house. I noticed that a lot of screws are not the right ones and have warped the guard.

next to fag accoutstic
What the fuck is this thing?
Also Fenders are built like tanks, just get it setup and don't put really heavy strings on it and that's all the care you'll need to have with it.

yes. will prob do that if bro will let me. something about my mom wanting to keep it totally as-is. but how much he played it got so much sweat and shit all over it (was in some 80's cover band) that the strings began to rust as well as most other metal parts.

I always wonder what happen to his mesa/boogie and marshall cabinets and older guitars. his wife prob handed my mom the crappiest guitar he had. his life (other than his work) was playing lead guitar in a bar band.
