What speakers do you use, /mu/?
Probably something good for everyone else but atrocious to /mu/
>>63685335
What else is new?
I use some DCM's from the late 90s they work pretty good
The small padded kind that fit over your ears; I forget what they're called

~18 yo Missions. Still nice because I've never took the piss out of them. Mmmmm.
>>63685839
Those speakers are as old as me.
No one on /mu/ uses speakers because we all live with our moms.

Some giant technics floorstanding speakers I got at goodwill hooked up to my Yamaha C-4 preamp + M-4 power amp. Have some Klipsch speakers too (RB-61 I think?) They are better but I have nowhere to put them atm.
For headphones, DT-880 600 ohm with O2 + ODAC.
>>63685291
A Schneider electric Surround Sound System, this is the only picture I could find online of it
>>63687047
This might be better, but my camera is awful
A pair of Pioneer CS-R570 3 way floor standers with Sansui J-33s on top of those for my stereo set-up.
Shitty computer speakers for the computer.
>>63686612
jelly of Klipsch godtier
Wharfedale LASER 200's connected to my samsung HT-X30 which is connected to my computer optically through an older X-fi card.
Bit-matched output of course.
>>63685291
jbl northridge standing speakers.
Focal 807s
>>63687364
It's worth noting that over the years that old HT-X30 has gradually blown every single output conditioning capacitor it has, that's four per channel. Each time it's blown one instead of replacing I just bridged the terminals directly.
Neat.
Damn, y'all niggas rich.
most of the time i use headphones.
but i do own cheap (30$) speakers. they have volume control thing a one for bass. what do i do with the bass one?
>>63688650
Turning the bass knob = moar bass
The ones built into my TV.
Before I moved, my old house had really nice built in surround sound I used daily.
New place doesn't so I'm stuck using what I already have.
>>63689014
How do you even connect it? Do you you play everything through the HDMI cable or something?
adam a77x
a pair of yamaha hs-8s
My laptop speakers
>>63689053
I just play shit through my PS4 using either YouTube or Spotify.
My entire music collection is on my iPhone, not all of it is downloaded because I have Apple Music but I can stream it if I got to.
I've got a couple thousand songs in the library.
I don't have any on my laptop because I'm not going to fucking download iTunes and shit up my computer.
Who /LowEndStudioMonitors/ here?
I have it hooked through a mixer with an EQ, which I use to turn the low and high end up when listening to music and watching movies.
>>63689453
>using monitors to listen to music
Do you use the M50X too?
Wharfdales but I really want a pair of Tannoy Gold.
>>63685291
krk vxt 6
>>63689500
No, I use the regular M50's.
What's wrong with listening to music through monitors?
>>63689500
>using monitors to listen to music
why not?
>>63685291
don't know what they're called. I don't use speakers much.
Got a stax lambda I use primarily.
>>63685291
Superlux HD668Bs cause /g/ told me too, good for the money
Hyperx Cloud Gaymur headset, sounds similar to the Superlux but more bass
>>63689560
They're meant to be used for mixing and mastering. You're MP3s and Soundcloud streams are going to sound like dogshit. Everything you listen to will need to be FLAC or something similar. Then again, that anon had his mixer set to the highs and lows turned up. Different sounding dogshit, I suppose.
>>63689545
Dumb frogposter.
>>63685291
I don't. I'm a poorfag student so I use headphones.
>>63685291
JBL LSR305
Great speakers imo if you're on a budget.
built a pair of transmission line speakers from a kit
>>63689609
>implyng someone who has a pair of studio monitors will use mp3's
it's the best way for listening to music if you have the room but yeah they are meant for producers
>>63689744
>>implyng someone who has a pair of studio monitors will use mp3's
Man this thread is fucking retarded
>>63689560
they tend not to flatter music. some, the yamaha ns10's (industry standard monitors) make everything sound like shit.... if you make a mix sound good on them its a bloody good mix.
proper monitors are fatiguing to listen to in my experience
theyre okay
>>63689609
>he doesn't make music

>>63689818

do you make music...or mess around with your bleeps and bloops?
>>63689763
>>63689744
That's the thing. It's not just MP3s. Speaking from experience, everything a monitor is connected to that isn't lossless with sound terrible. A Windows notification jingle will be tinny as fuck for example.
>>63689818
Sad fregg is a normalfag meme and has been since late 2014.
Tannoy 633's with a pretty knackered Kenwood amp right now, couldn't find a photo online with the covers on though since they look a bit lame without them on
polk audio monitor 7
>>63689771
>they tend not to flatter music
who wants to hear boosted music ? and yes some do fatigue a lot but others don't, mine don't.
I plug my cellphone to this with a miniplug-av

What studio monitors do you own?
>>63689763
>>63689846
i was talking specifically of music not your best Windows soundtracks.
I run a pair of Optimus Mach Twos, I love them, though the sound is honestly too big for my apartment right now
>>63689931
I don't have them anymore but it was something from M Audio.
>>63689940
Even then, you'd probably need a DAC or something.
>>63690003
>Even then, you'd probably need a DAC or something.
Everyone who produces with studio monitors own a soundcard.
>>63690003
yep you'll need one depending on how good are the monitors but it's worth it
>>63689896
its not really that straight forward. my speakers are pretty neutral but sound nothing like my monitors or any monitors i've ever come across
its personal preference at the end of the day. I don't think i've ever come across cheaper monitors that i enjoyed listening to music on (sub $1000).;... but I've come across many cheaper loudspeakers that were quite musical and enjoyable.
I get that you guys are trying to save space and money by buying one set of monitors/speakers that can do everything, but I would personally avoid monitors for anything other than mixing music.
> some do fatigue a lot but others don't, mine don't.
I'd question how good your monitors are for studio use
At the moment: Telefunken RB 70. Got them for free and even though they are from 1965-68, they sound quite good. The mids could have been a little louder, but since the components for my self-built ones will arrive soon, I don't bother modifying them.
These will have a 12" bass/mid driver (paper cone) and a horn tweeter for everything above 3 kHz. Aiming for a SPL of about 98 dB/1 W/1 m. Might be overkill but I like that.
>mfw people actually think properly encoded mp3s above 192 kbit/s sound shitty
>mfw those people probably never did a blind comparison to find the difference to lossless is fucking tiny if not inaudible
meme
>>63690104
>I get that you guys are trying to save space and money by buying one set of monitors/speakers that can do everything, but I would personally avoid monitors for anything other than mixing music.
kek
they are by far the most expensive option.
>I'd question how good your monitors are for studio use
krk vxt 6 nothing fancy but we are talking about listening to music not producing and they dont fatigue like for example a yahama ns10 or a pair of adams ax.
But yeah it's a personal preference some ppl like to boost the bass some like to listen just like it is produced.
>>63690219
welcome to /mu/, where everybody's retarded and just want as many kpbs as possible
>>63690308
>they are by far the most expensive option.
I suspect you've never come across decent hi fi speakers before have you?
>>63690395
oh but i have and there is none out there which can pair a top tier monitor. if u don't see people with high end studio monitors for listening to music is not because they are not good it's because they are extremely expensive.
Wharfedale Diamond 10.1s
>>63685291
the ones in the photo, i like them
>>63690481
You have no idea what you're talking about..... sorry but you really don't

>>63690810
sure bud, sure.
>>63687376
neat
Monitor Silver 1s. They're bretty gud
Pioneer B22s, usually just use headphones tho
Im actually really glad this thread informed me about Studio Monitors. I thought they were like, top tier shit for listening to music, but it makes sense. They need to be flat for tinkering with music production/ recording.
>>63693012
remember: positioning and your listening room is everything (once you got decent speakers). Amazing speakers -will- sound like shit if you don't place them correctly in your room or if you have a room with lots of reflections/echo.
bredy good speakers
>>63689677
nice stuff
>>63689815
no they aren't
>>63689860

What are some good studio monitors? I've just been using headphones and these cheap speakers that came with a CD/cassette player stereo thing I have
I only wanna spend about $200 or less but I could go higher if I have to.
>>63694649
>be you

Athena AS-F2s and an Infinity BU-2 sub.
I didn't have a lot of room so I settled on this. It's perfect. Wireless, great sound, rich bass that's not too overwhelming, portable, loud. I honestly don't think I could have done much better for the price.
Pic related is the JBL Xtreme.
>>63694720
nigga what
I want them for recording mostly, I like headphones but I still like using speakers as well

I was lucky to get them, my retarded ass step mother donated all of his vintage Marantz gear to fucking goodwill. Would be worth over $5k now with how insane the prices have gone up from collectors, plus it sounded so nice.

>>63685291
Can somebody recommend me some inexpensive speakers for my PC?
I have some Bose Companions that served me well but the headphone jack got shored out and I can't fix it so no sound now.
I don't need WOW MUH SUPER AWESOME BASS FROM MY AWESOME SETUP, just want something that sounds as nice as the speakers I had. I have nice headphones if I want to really listen to music.
