Streets of Rage OSTs are god-tier. Start with two, if you want crazier shit go to three, and if you want more disco-ey stuff go to the first one.
If you want more general chiptune recs I can give some, but they aren't actual soundtracks
>>63680416
Yeah, Megaman has some choice tracks. Pokemon. Def check out Earthbound. Lots of Final Fantasy stuff.
It usually works out if a game is good it's often got a good soundtrack.
Splatoon recently. Jet Set Radio is awesome.
Anything Mario, lots of Nintendo stuff really.
I really like the Lovely Planet OST.
Nuclear Throne.
Can't help you too specifically sorry.
Katamari stuff as well.
OK now I know why that picture reminded me of Katamari. It's because it is Katamari.
Sorry.
>>63680583
Yeah, first two OSTs are pretty much top tier techno albums.
Mother 3 - unfounded revenge,
Mario and Luigi Bowsers inside story - The grand finale
Donkey Kong Country - Stickerbrush Symphony
And basically all Danny Baranowsky soundtracks.
I like Wario Land 4 OST

Now that we're talking about Quake...
Link's Awakening
Ocarina of Time
Zelda almost always has great soundtracks, but these two are the best in that regard. ALttP, Windwaker and Majora's Mask are honourable mentions.
Nobody ever talks about this, but its so fucking good.

>Mother 3 (2 too, if you want experimental-er music, it is cited more often but 3 is more earcandy imo)
>VVVVVV
>the first two Fallout games (look for the "Vault Archives" album, it's free to download and has all the tracks from both games)
>every Rare game ever except maybe DK64 and obviously none of the Rareware games
>all the >elda games up to Twilight Princess
>the two Super Mario Galaxy games
>the first three Resident Evil
that's all I can think about for now.

as the others said, Mother 3, Chrono Trigger, Lovely Planet, Earthbound, and Lovely Planet are all fantastic as well
Okay, OP, I'll give you the goods:
Yuzo Koshiro:
This guy should go without saying. He's famous for his dance-style music found in Streets of Rage and for being able to adapt to any genre relatively well and create classic OSTs wherever he goes.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5PgRcECUQtU
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JM0N15QR-sI
Tim Follin:
Probably the most critically acclaimed and consistent composer next to Yuzo Koshiro. This guy did amazing things with the NES sound chip and just about every other sound chip he touched.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ypNPxwnppU0
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uzRjk6Ioqd0 (his brother might've had more input into this one but it's still a quality track)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6_IJYc9t3vQ
Hip Tanaka:
No, he's not Koji Kondo (the creator of the classic Mario and Zelda tunes), but his small oeuvre of music is really consistent and great.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I1QfIbLulf8
Stephane Picq:
He scored for some small avant-garde French adventure games in the 90s. It's some of the best DOS-sounding music you'll find.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-56Xgx5Ylj0
Alberto Jose Gonzalez:
Sounds a lot like Tim Follin. He only scored obscure gameboy European games, but his sound is flooring.

Honorable mentions include Hiroshi Kawaguchi and Ryu Umemoto.

I was actually thinking of posting that exact track but I forgot! Misty Blue is a really cool 80s pop sounding ost. If people here like Koshiro, they should also check out the stuff he did for Ys.
Also a cool Adventure Island track by him:

>Spyro ost
The original Copeland soundtrack makes me nauseous. I'm not joking. If I play the first Spyro for a long enough time, I start feeling like throwing up. Eventually I realized that if I turned off the music the feeling would go away. It only happens when I both listen to the music and play the game.
Weirdest thing is that this is a low-key experience that happens to a lot of people.

They literally just got prog rock and jazz musicians to compose these (same goes with newer games like Dark Souls).
