what are you listening to these days ?
any shows you have been to/will attend in a near future ?
any release you recently enjoyed/are currently waiting for ?
is james jamerson the best funk bass player?

my preference would go to Bootsy, for legacy and such, but he sure scores well in the race. if I remember correctly, he played on like 90% of the Motown releases during the seventies, something I got to respect him for

BTW I have funk bass books on my computer, if anyone's interested let me know and I'll upload them, my upload speed is atrocious so it's gonna take a while but I'm glad to help
>>63679709
also I saw this absolute madman last friday, it was red fucking hot. he also announced a new album, making 2016 the potentially best year for funk in quite some time

I got to see Parliament-Funkadelic last year at a free show - immediately became one of my top 5 shows ever.
James Brown wrote the book
to me, Sly & The Family Stone offer one of the strongest possible visions that extended his music (Miles and Eno were listening)
and Meters on their Josie albums have a whole different thing, which at times could be so effortlessly virtuosic (zero pretensions, while keeping truncated "pop" song structures) that some of what they did feels like "progressive funk" to me
