How can it be improvisation if the songs on the albums are pre-written?
because the solo is improvised you idiot fuck
>>63678765
they were improvising when they wrote it
>>63678777
How can it be the same song if its improvised differently each time?
>>63678803
the head is the same
>>63678803
The chord progressions are the same and the main theme is the same
>>63678894
>The chord progressions are the same
(not true, by the way)
>>63678912
Unless we're talking free jazz and spiritual jazz yes, the chord progressions in jazz songs are usually the same per each performance
>>63678930
Literally not true. Pianists add extensions and voice the chords differently.
>>63678965
Yes, but they are usually based around the same core concepts for chord progressions
And really you sort of are nitpicking at this point
>>63678977
Your mom was nitpicking me last night
>>63679000
That insult though
>>63679000
Good digits meh post
you just don't get it
>>63678787
this
>jazz is all improvisation
>but the chord progressions, the head, the main theme and the songs are all the same
>>63679026
the head IS the main theme u retard
what a thread
no wonder most people don't seem to get jazz
>>63679031
You're not helping yourself here.
>>63679026
Why did you seperate the head and the main theme like they were two different things?
>>63679017
>>63679032
>you don't get it
>can't actually answer OP
>>63679050
To accentuate you are making no sense.

>yes these are totally the same xDdddd
jazz follows a formula, play the head then solo.
>>63679050
he doesnt know anything about jazz
>>63679069
So they aren't the same songs then.
>>63678803
>>63679066
What? You're the one making no sense, the head and the main theme are exactly the same thing
>>63679088
yes. they aren't the same. the tune is the same but thats it
If I make a margherita pizza and then improvise by sticking a lobster on top half way through, is it still a margherita pizza?
>>63679119
no youre a fucking idiot for thinking thats a good metaphor too
>>63678765
just listen to some alternative takes and you'll get it
typically a jazz composition leaves a lot of room for interpretation even outside the solos
often you specifically talk about arrangements if all instrument parts (sans the soloist) are written beforehand - most often this is in a big band context or other larger ensembles with several horns
here are some examples of Bill Evans trios over the years playing the same composition Nardis
