ITT: Albums that you can't even pretend to like. Sure, they're big on /mu/, but for fuck's sake you just can't figure out why. Hell, you're not even looking to be convinced otherwise. You just don't don't like em and you don't even give a shit. Go ahead. Just get it off your chest.

Anything by Radiohead. Just sounds generic alternative at this point, I understand it was revoloutionary or whatever what it came out but at this point I really don't care.
>>
I agree on Spiderland. I quite like Washer and the ending of the album is p cool but I didn't love it at all. I've only listened to it twice though so I'm prolly gonna give it another try

This one took me a long time to like. I listened to it, didn't get it. A year or so later I listened to it, and didn't get it. This past winter, though, I gave it another shot and it just clicked for me.
>>

Just listen again if you like pop, you'll like this. It's just fucking flawless
>>
>>63658193
This. 100% this. I'm not trying to be a dick, but this just sounds like ... rap, and not even that interesting or rap. I went into it with certain expectations on what it would sound like, and it was exactly what I expected.
>>

>>63658607
Not to sound snobbish here, but as for as AnCo goes, MPP is pretty entry-level. It's basically beach boys on lsd-- pretty poppy. If you want a real rewarding challenge check out some of their older stuff, especially spirit they've gone ,spirit they've vanished.
>>
>>63658619
I don't understand when people say this. So all of the classic rap albums by Nas, Wu Tang, Jay Z, Outkast, etc, those must be the most boring piece of shit albums ever then?

Nice assumptions, bro. I dug a lot of their earlier stuff, but mpp was just too straight forward and bright and poppy.
>Not to sound snobbish here
If you feel you have to write that, then you probably need to rethink what you're writing. It sounds snobbish because you're being a smug cunt. If you are afraid you're acting like a snob, it's because you are.

Don't see the appeal with it desu.
Didn't hate it and it wasn't that bad to listen to, but i just don't get all the praise it gets. I usually like hip-hop as well.
May give it a few more chances before i give up on this.
>>
>>63658111
Also I'm not as big a fan of Radiohead as I previously was, I still appreciate them a great deal for the following reasons:
>They have written some great songs with interesting strucures (e.g. Paranoid Android, the use of the octatonic scale in Just)
>Jonny Greenwood's implementation of techniques used by modern classical music, while not necessarily unique, keeps their sound distinctive when it's used
>Thom Yorke's voice is gorgeous (I know some people disagree with this, but it's what I think)
> The transition from Pyramid Song into Pull/Pulk gives me a physical feeling which no other music has quite managed to replicate
That said, I do agree that they are overrated by fans. But they are very talented musicians who can write good songs, and not just "generic alternative".
>>
>>63662421
Both Laughing Stock and Spirit Of Eden sound practically identical to Kid A / Amnesiac era Radiohead, especially the latter. Even the vocals.

I will. There are many albums that grew on me over several listens. One example is MF DOOM. Didn't like mmm food and Madvillainy when i was first introduced to him, but now he is one of my favourite rappers.

Most music desu, but what I really can't get into anything from is western pop and rock from the 60s thru 80s. It's all just the same shit, it's all so boring and most of the praise I ever see for that kind of stuff is for lyrical content, like the music is so uninteresting that it's the only big distinction you can make between two songs by the same artist
>>
Any and all metal. If it is metal, I assume it sucks.

For me it is a lot of Postrock, kinda. I mean, I like listening to it I guess, but I find it kinda draining and exhausting. I can't say if I really enjoy it, though I listen to stuff like Tortoise or *shels relatively often.

well i tried to open to the rock/pop genre, ive liked techno, punk and reggae my whole life.
and i tried to listen to AnCo's merryweather and i found it flat, like repetive noises, i liked 2 songs (tough they get old after one listen). so i moved to tame impala, didnt liked it, found it the same thing, listened to red velvet underground, same.

If I can help with one of these it's benji: It's a stream of conciousness--sort of like a mid life crisis of an album. Every song is linked by death whilst keepng the overall tone of the album. It's about hypocrisy and love and hate and panera bread. Lot's of emotion, and the lyrics make you think hard about life, especially if you've ever lost someone close to you.

Cut me deep, anon. You'll never experience the raw grit of earlier modest mouse, from back when they'd do coke and drink and write music.

Really this album was a push back against the strip malls and suburbs that were going up everywhere around seattle in the 90's. Check out the song Polar Opposites. It might make a little more sense.
>>
