The hip hop community is a joke. It's not even a bad genre but it is one of the most irrelevant in the grand scheme of music history. All fans of the genre think their music is culturally significant when in reality rappers go over the same shit in their writing, whether it be victimizing niggers or talking about guns, drugs, etc. It's a bland type of music, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but it sure as hell is not important.
>>
>>63639670

None of those hold any value outside of the specific timeframe they were made in, aside from hip-hop fanatics, and after the mainstream starts straying away from hip-hop they will all be forgotten even by the few. There's no redeeming qualities in any of those outside of specific cultural memes assiciated with certain times, which by definition is the opposite of timeless.

Why are you so mad? It's okay if you enjoy hip-hop, there are a few records that I enjoy too but it's just incredibly shallow listening that holds little to no relevancy what so ever.

If someone makes you feel bad for listening to hip-hop, you should ignore them instead of coming up with these delusions based on nothing factual and keep on enjoying what you enjoy.

>>

That wasn't me, who the reply was aimed at originally. Arguing like he does is just as bad as claiming hip-hop to be something that it isn't.
It just seems that everyone here takes the music they listen to so personally that it's really ridiculous to even try and have a proper discussion here without it turning into memes and insults from either side.
>>
>>63640506
People are talking about TPAB like it is a masterpiece and shit and it is not. It's like an 8/10.
>>
>>63641065

>>63640506
It's not my fault if a huge amount of hip hop sucks. This fact doesn't make TPAB better per se.
>>
>>63641114
Where did I take what personally exactly? I simply just stated that hip-hop has no relevancy outside of narrow specific timeframes and it will never as a genre ascend the status of a fad.

either of clipping.'s albums
some stuff by B L A C K I E

that should get you started
>>
>>63641230
Why do people like guys like Eyedea and Aesop Rock. They have AWFUL deliveries when they rap it sounds awkward as hell. Their lyrics are ok, sometimes a little cringey but not bad. But I really can't listen to them cause of their voices. I'm not the guy you replied to btw.
>>
>>63641334

because music is mostly subjective and people have different opinions?
>>
>>63641360
No but I'm saying I can't be the only one who sees how bad they are in delivering lyrics, I'm confused as why people like them. The lyrical content isn't enough to make up for their voices.
>>
>>63641403

what exactly is wrong with their voices?

Aesop Rock has a solid flow and personality especially on Labor Days, and while I'm not a fan of By The Throat, I do think First Born is a pretty good album, because the rapper from Eyedeas & Abilities raps in a more traditional way instead of the cheesy pop punk way on By The Throat.
>>
>>63641474
Aesop Rock has good flow, his voice is weird though. Idk how to explain why I don't like it, it's almost like if I were to rap. There's no confidence in his voice. Eyedea has bad flow and a bad voice imo. I appreciate what he writes about but his lyrics are often very gimmicky and he sounds like he's doing angsty poetry readings. Just my opinion. Most people prob think I'm retarded lel.
>>
>man with opinion expresses his opinion
>somehow lots of people follow his word like some kind of prophecy

What are you, some kind of sheeple?
>>
All of Trap is trash though
>>
I'm so bored by all the hip-hop reviews, he does so many and it's all so boring.
>>
>>63641576

I'm really sick of people calling anything serious/honest/heartfelt "angsty". Like, if you aren't rapping about dumb shit you're somehow pretentious or boring. It's the kind of mentality that allows trap music to get as ridiculously popular as it has (not saying all trap is bad, but most of it is exceptionally awful).
>>
>>63641714
There's nothing wrong with being honest. The way Aesop does it is to appeal to teenagers, like the way he writes is not for the sake of honesty, it's for the sake of saying everything is sad.
>>
>>63641714
Also, his lyrics are cringe as fuck sometimes. That song Smile has lines in there that are unbearable to listen to for example.
>>
>>63641809
>>63641780

>appeals to teenagers

How do you even define this? I have a teenage brother and let me tell you he does NOT listen to rappers like Aesop Rock, he listens to shit like Machine Gun Kelly and Eminem and fucking Hollywood Undead.

>not for the sake of honesty

again how do you define this? how do you know when he's being honest or not? also I don't get the idea that "everything is sad" from him. for example my favorite song from him is No Regrets and it's a very beautiful, bittersweet song about a woman who fulfilled her dreams in life, but no one understood them. so it's sad but in the end she was happy and didn't care what people thought. and Aesop Rock tells this story lyrically without cursing or being vulgar at all. it's just plain good lyricism. and most of the album Labor Days is like that, it's all bittersweet, about what it's like to be a common working man or woman.
>>
>>63641915
I was talking about Eyedea not Aesop Rock. Aesop Rock is a way better lyricist. I fucked up in my first reply. Eyedea on the other hand makes out everything in the world to be sad. Life isn't depressing all the time, you know.
>>
how fucking old are you?
>>
>>63641977

well, I think just because an artist focuses on sadness in their music doesn't mean they actually believe everything in life is sad. like for example, most of Radiohead's music is depressing yet Thom Yorke seems like a pretty happy, fun person from what I've heard/seen.
>>
>>63639795
Hillery Clinton did the dab on live television my nigga. Hip-hop is the most relevant genre in the first world right now...
>>
>meme hop
>>
>>63642101
What I'm getting at with Eyedea is that he's playing off people who are going through rough times in their lives. Teenagers are very vulnerable emotionally a lot of the time. The way Eyedea talks about being sad isn't creative at all. Although Thom Yorke does come off as pretentious sometimes, Radiohead's lyrics are very creatively written, and if you don't like their lyrics, their production is amazing.
>>
>>63642157
Did you read my post at all? I'm not even gonna reply with an argument cause you obviously dont know what I'm trying to say.
>>
>>63642233

you know teenagers aren't the only people who get sad or go through rough times right? life doesn't really begin until you're in your late 20s anyways.
