Dub Housing is trash desu. Modern Dance is a solid 9.5 though, and Low and Heroes being 10s goes without saying.

Highway 61 and Blonde on Blonde came out within a year of each other, too. BIABH was 14 months before Blonde on Blonde, which is still fucking wild.
>>
there are many examples of highly regarded albums by the same artist in the same year in jazz since labels in the 60's were releasing at a very rapid pace

Miles Davis released Kind of Blue and Porgy and Bess in 1959 and Miles Smiles, Sorcerer and Nefertiti in 1967

Charles Mingus released Mingus Dynasty, Mingus Ah Um and Blues & Roots in 1959

John Coltrane released A Love Supreme and The John Coltrane Quartet Plays in 1965

Wayne Shorter released Night Dreamer and JuJu in 1964 and Speak No Evil, The Soothsayer, Et Cetera and The All Seeing Eye in 1965

Herbie Hancock released Sextant and Head Hunters in 1973

Also Hüsker Dü with New Day Rising and Flip Your Wig

>Yes
The Yes Album - 9/10
Fragile - 8/10

>Neil Young
Tonight's the Night - 10/10
Zuma - 9/10

Animal Collective
Campfire Songs - 10/10
Here Comes the Indian - 10/10

Actually, when an artist releases two albums in a year, those albums have a better chance of being good, because why would an artist be driven to release albums so fast if they were only decent at best? Releasing two albums in a year shows that they were really inspired.

This happened the last two years

I don't think anything anyone else has suggested comes close IMO (With the exception of maybe BIABH and Highway 61).

TMG discography is huge, spans close to 3 decades and I don't think any of it drops below a 5 or 6 out of 10. And then in 2002 they drop (very subjectively) their two best albums. And they are completely different. AHWT is the pinnacle of John's completely stripped back lo fi folk music, and then Tallahassee is an extremely well-produced indie rock concept album with a strict narrative. The only thing linking them is the great song writing.
