Well I hold the opinion that 2pac's very forgettable, I mean his albums don't sound bad or even dated, but he just doesn't come off as anything very special (and this is coming from someone who likes his music). It's definitely something you listen to eventually but I don't think it's core or an good introduction to rap in general.
