Finally listened to this the other day. It actually wasn't that bad. A lesser SY album to be sure but it was listenable. Probably the most damning thing about it is the Pitchfork review.
Always and forever my favorite album of theirs.
I'm sure Arachnidworld is better but I never got that album when I was 14, I got this one instead.

I have seen someone say this was The Cure's best album once. To be fair, he had an alright argument - he liked The Cure's psychedelic side the most, and while later albums did evoke that side in more competent songs like The Snakepit, Cut, or The Promise, none of them dove full on into the deep end like this album did.
