I don't dislike R&B or anything, I just literally haven't paid much attention. The Weeknd is cool, and the other suggestions in here have been pretty good. I used to listen to Frank Ocean, because I liked the whole Odd Future collective. I tend to gravitate towards metal because I play guitar in a metal band. There could be some other really damn good artists I'm missing out on that are killing it on the airwaves right now, and I wouldn't have a clue. hell, this is the first time in months I've been on /mu
Listen to Weeknd's Trilogy, Frank Ocean's stuff, Miguel's albums, Partynextdoor has some okay stuff as well. That's about all I can think of off the top of my head.

I couldn't get into Echoes as much, it just seemed like a rehash of the first two tapes. Balloons and Thursday had their own distinctive vibes, Echoes just felt like more of the same stuff, just not quite as good.

Definitely agree.. But to me Echoes edges it with better production and none of the low points of Balloons. Definitely feels a bit less authentic but the cohesion in EoS was great.
Big fucking drop off after trilogy; I did enjoy KL (and KL live was excellent; probably better than Trilogy live?) but BBTM was straight garbage for the majority.
Probably just romanticizing my memories of that/those year(s) desu.
