itt: things that piss you off about faux vinyl users
>pic very related
>>63550949
get a girlfriend fag
>>63550949
At least she has old albums and not new pressings bought at Urban Outfitters
>>63550949
wtf is a faux vinyl user? you either use it or you don't
>>63551004
irrelevant but i have one
>>63551024
the vinyl are stacked. and it reeks of tumblr
>>63550949
that beenie cushion thing she's leaning on must have the most unbearable texture.
>>63550949
>muh sekrit club
I dont hate it but I find it funny when newbies say "vinyls"
>>63551068
Yeah, I had a cushion like that. It was the worst. Threw it away after a week of getting it which made me feel bad because it was a moving in present. Smelled bad too.
>>63551048
this retro revival that the millennial generation is exploiting to look indie chill by reading pitchfork, subscribing to tumblr, pc ideology and prancing around with their philistine taste. They don't know or understand the importance of art music or for the relationship of this topic, what vinyl means. 99% of them own a dark side of the moon copy and a crosley. And this picture is reeks of it>>63550949
>>63551066
The only reason stacking albums is bad is because their combined weight wears the grooves down.
A stack of four is going to do nothing to them, calm down the autism.
>>63551066
>the vinyl are stacked
Caring about this reeks of 4chan nerd that read too many audiophile forums.
>>63551162
>autism
you're not exactly wrong, but you're still austic as hell
>>63551174
i'm well aware of why stacking vinyl is bad - which is the reason why I pointed it out. And using autism as a pejorative proves your lack of depth in discussion.
>>63550949
is that a boy or a girl.
Those arms are extremely masculine but...
>>63551190
Stacking is bad, I just think this picture was done quick and obviously as a photoshoot. No way to know if she actually stores them like that
>People know less about vinyl than me and that makes me mad.
I don't get it. I mean, it is cringey to see people buying a vampire weekend LP at urban outfitters but I honestly don't give a fuck what people do with their money.
>>63551133
>>63551277
this & nice digits. i'd say it's a lil grating and funny at the same time seeing stereotypes but hey if people genuinely like getting that lana del ray poster and arctic monkeys record, what's to stop them from getting it?
>>63551308
nice meme
>>63551220
If you understand why stacking vinyl is bad, then you shouldn't have raised the concern when clearly it is not damaging to the records.
And your defensiveness proves your autism.
So calm it down.
>>63550949
All vinyl buyers are outdated hipsters that should stop buying objectively inferior medium.
>>63551352
i don't think you know what autism is. and regardless, stacking in general is bad and promotes the idea of ignorance.
>"i love vinyl! i have a vinyl player at home!"
>oh cool, what kind of setup?
>"it's a crosley!"
>>63551608
disgusting
is she that thing in a car? i hate these tumblr feminists so much.
>>63551380
>and promotes the idea of ignorance.
I'm sure you're very familiar with autism, hombre.
>>63551352
Vinyl is shipped stacked.
>>63551700
But wait, there's more.
>>63551723
i still don't think you know what that word means or implies. you need to leave for reddit if that's your main arsenal of intelligent insults.
>>63551738
is this actually true? I highly doubt it. I know it gets abused during the shipping process and mistreated by the workers do its fragile nature and fast-paced worked environment in the transportation industry but it seems asinine they'd ship it stacked . . .
>>63551768
I'm triggered
>>63551321
>coming from a living meme
>>63551832
it's true, I follow a couple of my local vinyl stores on facebook, sometimes they will post "new shipment just arrived" with a picture of all the records stacked in a box from shipping; 50 plus vinyls all stacked in the box. Stacking a few definitely won't ruin your records. Don't listen to retarded audiophile forums, they're deluded autists.
>>63551798
>you need to leave for reddit
And I'm sure you know the way my friend, why don't you go on ahead and I promise I'll follow, okay?
>>63551321
>>63551380
you're repeating like a broken record
its poetry
>>63552909
Ya this is my issue with it.
Listening to digital is so much easier. There are times when I'll choose to listen to a record but on an average busy day digital trumps because of that plus my digital catalog is much more up to date.
>>63550949
>faux vinyl users
what does this even mean?
>>63553029
i found the joke
>>63553065
People get in to vinyl and feel like they're above others.
So when they see people with crosley and urban outfitters records they get triggered cause of their autism because they're not "reel music appreciators"
Slightly off topic, but could any body recommend me a good needle for a technics SL-1800 mk 1? Mainly listening, but some sampling as well.
>>63553051
you don't know what youre talking about
>>63553018

>>63553065

>>63553214
So they pretend to use it?
>>63553137
I feel like I'm above others because I don't use vinyl. I guess I messed it up.
>>63553231
They use it as a fashion statement
>>63553214
How often do you use your records?
>>63553029

/thread
>people bitching about pluralizing "vinyl"
Vinyl record = singular = vinyl
Vinyl records = plural = vinyls
Would you say "these are my vinyl record"? Then why would you refer to multiple records as "vinyl"? I swear to god, this shit is only enforced so you sound like a "real vinyl user". It's pretentiousness comparable to the chick in OP's image.
Prove me wrong, bitches. Tell me how there's more to it than a "stop doing my hobby wrong" bitch fit.
>>63553895
vinyl is the name of the material that the record is made out of which is why the plural term is "vinyl."
>>63551262
The need to pose such a question shows just how much i need to kill myself
>>63551700
no that steering wheel is to control the direction for her bedroom door
>>63554261
>floral print crosley
I consider myself extremely tolerant by vinyl user standards and this makes me seethe
>>63553895
I would not use "vinyl" nor "vinyls" to describe plural. Both sound weird to me.
I just add another word to sound better, such as "vinyl collection," or replacing it with "lps."
I fucking hate when people sit there and tell me that vinyl has "more room for the music to expand" and all this other myth shit.
>Dude listening to Powerslave on vinyl is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much more enticing and deep than on any other format!
Also
>people who buy vaporwave/electronic music on vinyl
Please just kill yourself.
What in the fuck is the point in shelling out more money for a vinyl record that was released within the last like 20 years? You want the bigger artwork? The fuck is the point
>>63554454
Quintessential hipsterdom
>>63554454
Fads are full of retards, anon.
>omgg look how retro I am for getting that Ed Sheeran vinyl xD!
>>63554226
I'm just curious.
I'm transgender desu.
>>63554261
das it mane
Guess what vinyl nerds now little kids are into it too. Fuck you, you're one unique hobby that compensated for your vacuous personalities is now no better than call of duty
>>63554589
All of the patricians have already moved on to CDs and digital
>>63554667
wrong
>>63551608
oh for fucks sake's I collect records and people like this annoy me
>>63554667
True patricians own music on all formats.
>>63554425
I don't get it either. I buy vinyl because I like the reassuring ritual of prepping physical media for play and having large-size album art to look at. You can't deny that physical media is growing obsolete (if it isn't already) and digital music is far more convenient, but it feels so impersonal by comparison. At least I can feel like I really own my record collection.
I feel like that's the most honest reason for owning vinyl there is.
>>63554843
rekt
>>63554589
>12 years old
>buying Rush from an actual record store
I can't even be mad. Godspeed, li'l nigga.
>>63554870
I like to own albums I really love. Yeah if I enjoy one I'll listen to it. If I really enjoy it I'll get the CD and maybe some merch. I only get vinyl of albums I absolutely love and near worship, since records can be delicate.
This explains why I only have four LPs.
>>63554425
Not sure why you mention vaporwave, there's like what 4 releases on vinyl? And electronic music was always popular on vinyl and many releases don't exist on cd.
>>63551768
holy fuck that hurt me
>>63550949
People that only buy music on vinyl because vinyl is popular on /mu/ should literally neck themselves, you trying to look cool on a forum is pathetic.
>>63551267
it's a fucking fashion shoot, of course it was faked
do you have any idea how modeling works
>>63551190
Clinically proven to warp records my man
>It sounds warmer.
>You appreciate music more if you actually go through the effort if looking for it. Having all of your music available at the click of a button has had a detrimental effect of people's appreciation of music.
>Vinyl actually encourages you to listen to the full album in its proper trackorder instead of being a pleb who only listens to single songs.
>You're using a Crosley? With NO COUNTERWEIGHT?!?!?! Have fun ruining all of your records.
>Vinyl is killing the mp3 industry!
>Life has surface noise!
>Wow you sure are a butthurt poorfag about the fact you can't afford vinyl. Sour grapes much?
>I just like collecting it for the artwork.
>>63554589
this kid is pretty based for getting into a cool band like Rush
>>63555047
>>63551768
>even the insane tracking weight of a Crosley isn't enough to keep it from skipping
>better fuck up my overpriced UO vinyl by adding even more weight to it!
I hate you.
>>63555047
Some of those are valid reasons for owning vinyl.
>>63552995
My family has one of those in our house. I haven't used it for much than F#A#, Close to the Edge and Bad Moon Rising by Sonic Youth. I messed up the speakers slightly by playing Mlladic once from a CD copy of Allelujah! Don't bend, Ascend so there's slightly more crunch to the speakers. I know this sounds odd, but some genres seem to benefit from crunchier, low quality sound.
>>63554925
>>63555188
Yeah, Rush are kinda wanky prog, but they're cool and that's a fantastic band to grow out of.
