/mu/ what album did you get before you were very interested in music, that served as the 'base' that your taste/interest grew from.
Mine is pic related
>tfw the 2006 FIFA World Cup game got me interested into music

Underage banned
got me into listening to albums as a whole instead of listening to the radio
Listening to it now, it's really ambitious for a mid-2000s mainstream emo album. The way the album is split into two distinct halves, the long and odd song titles, the synth and baroque pop influences. Compared to all their peers who were just churning out generic pop-punk, this album blew my mind and definitely set a base for what I would listen to later in my life.
I always considered this to be an excellent album. Aside from that I discovered a lot of music through Guitar Hero and Rockband.

>Aside from that I discovered a lot of music through Guitar Hero and Rockband.
Same. Except for Rock Band 3 because by the time that game came out, I was listening to p4k indie and hip hop. 17/18 year old me wanted Deerhunter on the tracklist, not Dire Straits.

I read a greentext on /b/ that mentioned ITAOTS. I listened to it and really liked it, then I eventually came here.
Now though, I can't stand /b/ OR ITAOTS. Funny how that works.
>>63547448
pic and American Idiot
Served as a good jumping off point for getting me into hip hop, trip hop and various electronic genres. I still love the album to this day
No regrets

>>63549056
yep same
For me it was either Dinosaur Jr or Beastie Boys. Beastie boy's "Paul's Boutique" made me give synthetically produced music a fair shake. Dino Jr's "You're living all over me" made me realize what an album really was. I don't remember which I heard first but those are the first two albums I can remember just starting over multiple times a listen. I promise I'm not THAT old, though.
>>63549056
same also, except i now hate the album and gorillas in general sadly
>>63548601
this
If I had to pick one album, it would probably be this one. There were others from when I was younger, but they were mostly compilations and such.
>>63547448
this and ubiktune's seasons compilations
found this in my parent's cd binder when I was 13
honestly, it changed my life when I was a kid
>>63550892

could've been worse. decent album, but I don't listen to this kind of stuff anymore

a little dad rock-ey but this was the first album I bought
>>63547448
I dont even know why, this of all things
>>63551006
So is any music that came out before 1990 considered "dad" music?
Or do you throw that term around to fit in here?

I remember listening to that on my cd player on a family trip to Arizona
(along with John Mayer's first two albums and Good Charlotte haha)
I kind of lucked out
It could´ve been a lot worse.
probably offspring's smash. I think that was the first one that I sought out on my own after hearing come out and play. I had been gifts of music that I had enjoyed before hand mostly movie soundtracks and compilations

this and metallica- master of puppets. my cousin turned me onto both when i was a kid.
Had this as my alarm for a long time.
My dad says The World at Large always reminds me of him due to it waking him up to.
I've got a lot of sentimental attachment to this record, still love it to this day.
I would have to say pic related. I first started really getting into music in 8th grade when I got my first Mp3 player and it could only fit 25 songs, most of which were this album.

And these too. Typical white male music I guess.
>>63552077
Oh shit man I loved Buckcherry in high school. They opened for Velvet Revolver and had a great show.
This is a good hard rock album as well.
>>63552037
First album i ever bought. Lot of feelings attached to that song as well.
I'm 19, before this I listened to Dadrock, Trance, and Indie exclusively and never full albums.
Still a personal favorite, its in my top 5.

I don't even like it much anymore and I pretty much only listen to emo/screamo/post-hardcore now but it got me really into shitty dance music for a year or so
>>63553177
He said he listened to indie even before and that song sounds absolutely nothing like AnCo the only similarity is that Panda Bear is singing jesus christ how new are you

Yeah I've listened to AnCo, I didn't back then mind you. But I have since I got more into music. Favorite is probably Campfire songs or sung tongs.
I listened to this album on repeat over and over when I was like 10, before I really got into music. Just recently listened to it again for the first time in a while. Great album.
>>63549321
Well that's just unnecessary, why so contrarian?

This and Gorillaz - S/T
Gorillaz was the only thing I came close to appreciating for a while; I wasn't really into music at the time. Cosmogramma made me realize that I should start looking for new music to expand my tastes
>>63551259
this seems p sus to me
