my favorite flow is C.L. Smooth. Avant garde hip-hop would probably be something like MF DOOM or cLOUDEAD. It doesn't really exist though. Trip-hop, is in a way avant garde hip-hop at times.

there's literally no such avant-garde hip hop, sure you can throw the term around, but hip hop will NEVER be truly "avant-garde", it would need a lot more artistic merit before then
no one is doing what flying lotus is doing. not even a big fan of the music but i recognize how unbelievable it is from a production perspective. having thundercat on bass helps too, i'm sure.
i would check out dark energy by jlin, phenomenal album and wildly creative
and nicest flow alive is either thug or rocky

yeah on ice there might have been too many weak hooks and the production got uncharacteristically upbeat
still some weak hooks on this one but face got more abstract and nihilistic and gila went murkier and more minimalist with the prod

Was not expecting it to be free, nice. I've sat through SGP's weaker moments for the production so I'll probably still enjoy this one. Its a shame they seem to have lost the buzz, for a while they were being spammed right up there with OF. I'd guess thats part of why its free.
