Let me tell you a story.
Love will tear us apart is the first song I learnt on acoustic, because its my favourite song, and I had to give a performance for music class and I chose love will tear us apart.
I would say its a fucking hard song to play for a beginner, and I played it poorly, but I learnt it in a week and passed.

I mean in theory, no. It's just like 3 different pretty basic chords for the whole thing. The sort of real quick fingerstyle trill technique (I don't even know what to call it) used to play the chords is something you might not really be able to develop when just starting out, but that isn't really necessary to be able to just play the gist of the song.
