The more I look at it, the more I like it.
I DO THINK IT'S GOOD
I love this album, but why do people call this the precursor to math rock?

Okay, but how? What makes it math rock?
It's called a mandala. Carl Jung saw it as a universal manifestation of consciousness in humans. We really enjoy looking at circular symbols that in some way point toward the center. The knots in the design are very common in Celtic cultures and I've seen them in different forms in many different cultures.

this song is about a sculpture that adrian belew's wife made. nice b8 m8.

Hes talking about the cover
>>63520460
I assumed he was talking about the symbol on the album cover, which is absolutely a mandala and reminiscent of the Celtic Knot.

Interesting fact: I tested it myself, and there are actually two different "ropes" intertwined there, its not just one knotted rope.
I colored them in green and blue to help you visualize this
let's not forget that there are actually two different discipline knots

The second album art is also two ropes, without one of them being much longer than the other
