Listening to Vulnicura by Bjork for the first time today. What does /mu/ think of this album?

I think it's good but not her best stuff at all for me. It's more stripped down and very good if you're in the mood for the sort of style it has.

She's concretely the goddess of the contemporary art.
Not the biggest fan of the back third in all honesty but the first third is great and the middle third is astonishing. Ranks right inbetween Homogenic and Vespertine for me.

I found it incredibly boring and inconsistent to be honest. Her vocals on this album are also bad.
And i don't mean that she isn't in tune or anything, it's just that the way she stretches some words and sings them is really weird and kills the momentum for me.
Also i find most of the songs to be way too long for what they offer. For example, after the 3 minute mark of the opening track no more new elements are introduced and it just goes on forever until 7 minutes have passed.
I'm not against repetition when it's an artist that does it well, like Swans
People said this album is a lot more like Vespertine than her last few records but i don't see it AT ALL. Didn't like this one senpai

I think it's more like a mishmash of everything she's done from Homogenic onwards. It definitely feels like a successor to Biophilia above all else but I catch traces of the 4 albums prior to it here and there, and Medulla's vocal production in particular is all over this thing. As far as Vespertine goes I can see History of Touches being on that album, and thematically Vespertine is like a third act to a loose storyline between it, Homogenic and Vespertine chronicling Bjork's search, finding, and loss of love in her life.

Her new album improves greatly upon her two previous albums. The string arrangement is probably my favorite part of this album. Bjork can evoke so much raw emotion everytime, her vocals are simply celestial. Vulnicura is very well-produced and straightforward while sounding unpredictable, dark, somber and experimental at the same time, it is one of the beautifulest record of the last year without doubt.
