How so? The Smashing Pumpkins were pretty much the Billy Corgan backing band. Billy also pretty much did everything for their albums too. I even think he recorded all the parts for Siamese Dream. The only other member that did anything noteworthy was Iha because he and Billy worked well together.
He has questionable taste in women and has admitted to cheating.
Overall though, he seems like a kindhearted person who just has some mental health issues (and maybe some Irish temper?). And cats like him, so he can't be all bad.
I listened to Oceania again the other day and got the feeling that this was the album he'd been trying to make for the last 5-10 years.

Jimmy fuggin' Chamberlin
Utterly flawless from gish to mellon collie and a year after, the B-sides from that era could make two full albums of high quality songs. The Aeroplane Flies High is a better song than 99% of the world's songwriters will ever write and it's an EXTRA. He was a fucking songwriting juggernaut for 4 years and then it mostly went away. His latest stuff has been pretty ok but the time between adore and now was bad.
