LOCAL MUSIC THREAD
post yr favorite local bands
they actually do all suck
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z_kzNiG3R2s
who gives a shit about boring, uninspired "local bands" when there's phenomenal music coming out of every corner of the world
>>63502477
ITT: OP is in a small band and wants to hype his shit. He's too scare, though, so he started this thread, hoping that lots of people would comment, allowing him to slip in his shitty band.
Sorry, OP. Your band sucks. The reason it will never make it big is because it sucks. You can lie to yourself all you want about how hard it is to make it big or how record companies suck or whatever, but none of that is relevant to you. Your band just sucks.
>>63502528
almost all worthwhile music comes from underground DIY scenes friend
>>63502528
Because it's easier to keep in touch with your local scene and find interesting musicians that haven't become widely noted than to do the same with someone halfway across the world
>>63502568
I'm not in a band. I book shows sometimes, but I don't play in a band currently.
Nobody wants to "make it big". Unless you're r/music cancer, I can assure you that most of your favorite bands are still "local bands", they just get covered by p4k or what have you.
https://youtu.be/DFpax5Tvxa8
I saw them live. Pretty good. It was at an art museum so it was a super small "venue". Pretty good for some teens from Kansas City.
>>63502568
Could you be any more retarded?
>>63502568
for reference, this is what your average local/DIY show looks like in any good scene
http://youtu.be/NngTB09w03A
but yeah yr right everyone just wants to """make it big""" there are no scenes of people who are actually making interesting music
>>63502623
>>63502658
>>63502682
ITT: OP gets called out for his shitty band and them goes into damage control.
Next stop: Posting some shitty doctored screen shot of this post with a few of the (You)'s replaced.

You're the only one shitting up the thread faggot
>>63502528
all musicians were local musicians at one point
Very nice guys and have a great attitude about themselves as a band, there are other groups in Brooklyn that really sound well too but, most are very full of themselves and try too hard to be their influences.
>>63502477
>>63503652
saw them open for perfect pussy a few months ago, they were pretty cool
>>63502477
I'll post my favorites from within 30 miles of me.

You guys know every band is local to some city, right?
>Foxing
>Unicorn Porn
Pretty good music. Completely different styles but locals are cool anyway.
>>63503962
I only listen to cosmopolitan music.
>>63503555
>>63503555
most of the new notable/"big" ones still are, and still work day jobs. the era of famous bands is dead and gone.

>>63503792
how can you live in the pacnw and only know/care about shitty buttrock
>>63502528
Well yeah, every corner of the world is 'local' to SOME people so your post doesn't even make sense.
>>63504057
>butt rock
That's not butt rock. Butt rock is shit like motley crue and steel panther.
>>63504080
>all local bands suck.
Nope. Sure don't. The post also makes perfect sense.

That's cock rock. Buttrock is a more general term referring to all safe and tame middle of the road radio rock.

Alice in Chains and Pearl Jam aren't buttrock though. Nor is Modest Mouse, and especially not the rap I linked. I'm only linking shit from the seattle area, if it were PNW in general i'd probably have included aesop rock, some vaporwave, etc

you have absoluteky no connection to your local scene if that shit is all you know
and AIC and Pearl Jam are the epitome of buttrock. Literally the blueprint upon which all post-grunge buttrock is based.
>>63504057
lol alice in chains and pearl jam are not buttrock gtfo

There's also like, a million Jazz and Blues bands, naturally.
Blackened Death Metal from Vancouver
They put on a damn good live show
>SUPPORT THE TROOPZ
Some pretty sick hardcore. The band is long gone. Some solid tracks on here like "Shit on a child." Their discography is solid.
BC: https://supportthetroopz.bandcamp.com/album/support-the-troopz
>Clint Breeze
Some cool hip-hop. Album last year was one of my favorites. Quality production.
https://clintbreeze.bandcamp.com/album/maisha

>Shipwreck Karpathos
Post-rock. Pretty ambitious guys. Pretty cool guys.

>Sweet Poison Victim
"Afropop" self-described. Pretty good stuff, and a damn good show.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3dB__PalVaE&feature=share

Alice in Chains definitely aren't buttrock, Pearl Jam is debatable. Grunge can't really be buttrock because of sheer principle.
