Who is the modern pink floyd?
Pink floyd
>>63497852
>overhyped
>treated as overly deep by kids and people who know nothing about the genre
>hailed by the mainstream as brilliant
obviously Tame Impala
>>63497890
when was the last time anyone called tame impala brilliant? it's just good music
Closest guess is Animal Collective
>psychedelic from time to time
>solid catalog with a handful of clear stand-outs
>>63497908
but much like DSotM, it's not good
>>63497890
But pink floyd is one of the objectively best psychprog bands, what are you on about?
>>63497935
everything from Dark Side on is pure forgettable lethargy
>>63497852
Porcupine Tree
But since they're inactive either RPWL or Airbag

Ive listened to both porcupine tree and airbag. never heard of RPWL, will have to listen.
>>63497989
this RPWL sample is sure as dragging as most post-1973 Floyd music so that'll do

Modern Marillion also has particularly strong Floyd influence, especially Rothery's guitar playing that is very reminiscent of Gilmour

There's also Gazpacho, but they sound like Floyd Mixed with PT and Radiohead

flaming lips

Define "good."
>>63498128
it's easier to define what isn't good
>derivative
>plodding works
>surface level lyricism
On the Run is an amazing track, but the rest of Dark Side is just okay. Their earlier works have plenty of ups and downs and tempo change ups and the like...things that just disappear and lose the psychy spirit.
Hawkwind has 16 minute long songs that feel shorter than tracks off post-1972 Floyd albums
>>63497852
Oh and also Riverside

Who is the modern King Crimson?
>>63497968
So, even in your opinion they have eight absolutely incredible psychprog albums? Even that in itself is incredible.
>>63498465
In terms of innovativenes? The Mars Volta or tool
In Terms of sound? Anglagard, Anekdoten, Astra and Seven Impale
I'd say Radiohead. I think that they have a similar mix of success and acclaim. Obviously Pink Floyd were way bigger but rock was way bigger back then too.
