Hating Kiss is such a Reddit meme
It's like making fun of Nickelback but Kiss actually has 2 or 3 very good songs
Their prog album is funny to litsten to

They were influential...but only for their 1974-77 run eg. >>63492588. You never see anyone doing covers of Crazy Nights because nobody cares about that shit and it only copied trends rather than create them.

LOL at Paul Stanley whining that they won't induct Eric Singer and Tommy Thayer into the RRHOF with them.
"It doesn't make sense that they choose to exclude Eric and Tommy because the RRHOF had no problem inducting Bob Trujillo with Metallica even though he didn't play on any of their classic albums. Or including RHCP members who played on early albums that all of 10 people bought."

Actually, that song was originally written and performed by Argent in 1973. It's a cover.
they have a few good songs
kiss is simultaneously one of the most overrated and underrated bands
they're not anything special or really worth much attention , but theyre not THAT bad
>>63492842
Well, why should they? Literally nobody cares about anything Kiss did after the 70s. S/T, Hotter Than Hell, Dressed To Kill, Destroyer, Rock and Roll Over, and Love Gun are the only essential albums. The rest can be entirely skipped over and you won't miss a thing (well, ok maybe you can listen to Creatures of the Night).
Gene and Paul themselves clearly don't care about the 80s-90s stuff or they wouldn't limit their setlists to 70s songs.
I saw them live once. I had fun. I even bought a copy of the concert at the end of the show. (They're one of those bands that sets up a recording and C.D. burning system so fans can take the concert home with them)

Even worse, they make Thayer and Singer wear Ace and Peter's makeup and poorly pretend it's them.
Also Paul's voice is all-but dead and...oh god, you don't want to hear what he sounds like now. It's frightening.

They also suggested that they may retire in a few years and hand the reigns to young new guys to continue the band infinitely.

Creatures is a top-notch hard rock record that sadly didn't get any attention in the US, only Latin America and Japan cared about it.

"Where are the music legends of today? Going down the list, I can name Elvis, the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, Michael Jackson. But who is there after about 1984? And you can't say Nirvana because making two albums and then killing yourself does not equal a great artist."

They actually said they were doubg it for the money only and dont give a shit about music so yea they pretty bad
Why would anyone in 2016 listen to Alice Cooper or Kiss at this point? Everything they brought to the table has been copied for decades, people can't even understand why they're important.
They just see the theatrical shit that's been copied to hell and back.
>>63497362
No they didn't. Like, legit they never said that. Hell, whenever someone asks them about the makeup they always go "We want the fans to have fun and see a great show".
THEY WERE doing it for the money, don't get me wrong, but they've never admitted to it.
They are pretty good.

Fuck no. I'm not even half as stuck-up as most of this board but as a guitar player they make me physically ill. They have some of the worst, most uninspired riffs in the history of rock & roll. Come to think of it, the lyrics are super fucking cringe-inducing as well. God I hate kiss.
