I listened to MPP several times, completely baffled by the hype, before I got it.
t. white boy
Took me a few tries.
On the first two listens i didnt do anything else while listening, but lost interest in the middle parts. The third time, i had it playing while on my computer, so i got to stick around for when it picks up again with Broken Hearts
Loveless
>It's been one year since I've been on /mu/ and people are still talking about this album

>>63485792
I've listened to it on 3 different stages of my life. Still nothing, whiny crap if you ask me

This. However when Strawberry Jam clicked... Man, it was fucking amazing.
pleb containment thread
>>63487044
not quite as autistic as those people who get angry about memes. Or those people who try to meme on 4chan but apply the format incorrectly
TMR
i don't like shit i don't go outside
>>63485120
only took a couple for me but yea
>>63485086
Thought this was awful but now I realize it's probably one of the best country albums released recently.
>>63486984

t. roubled
oneohtrix point never - garden of delete
i dismissed it as pretentious nerd music at first but something kept drawing me back to it

>tfw start to drift into sleep during the coda of daily routine then hearing bluish for the first time while half-dreaming
Couldn't have been more perfect
>>63485086
How many more listens until you finally "get" that TPAB is mediocre?
>ITT: stockholm syndrome
after listening to it for the 18th time, anon resolves to love it due to the investment he has put it, he cant simply walk away and say its shit after wasting so much time can he?
And best of all, anyone who disagrees simply 'didnt get it'. By the time they listen to it enough to 'get it' theyre in the same predicament and join the circle jerk of 'you dont get it brooooooo listen to it again'
I first listened to this back in October, and thought it was OK at best.
Then I gave it another listen today, and found it to be much better than I remembered it.
>>63489866
What do you listen to?
>>63485120
i liked it when i came out, but now i really fucking love it
>>63485086
Or maybe some albums are just shit?
>>63488393
>Not 808s
KEK
>hear about death grips
>cunts recommend this album

>>63489866
what is there to not get
>>63488753
Country influence sure but hardly a "country" album.
>>63489866
Listened to Loveless about 10 times now and still hate it.
>>63490024
I still don't get it. Please help
>>63490087
If you don't get it, then you don't get it.
You don't have to like everything; especially everything /mu/ likes.
>>63490087
>get a gym membership
>play it loud
i could only get into them that way, after that listening when relaxing seemed to click
if that doesnt work, consider the possibility that you just dont like it and thats perfectly ok friend
>>63490106
this, ive tried animal collective a couple of times now and it just didnt work for me, deleted it and moved on.
Have you never disliked something before?
>>63490109
>>63490106
Wow everyone is so welcoming here : ')
I was turned off by the vocalist at first, but I couldn't stop keep coming back to it
>>63490145
fucking pleb
OK Computer took me a lot of listening before it Clicked.
>>63489866
I think there's some music I just can't brainwash myself to like
>>63485086
The last track is some amazing jazz. Not a fan of the niggerbabble known as rap so I don't really care about the rest of the album.
>>63485086
these instrumentals holy shit
>>63490959
>The last track is some amazing jazz
hahahahahahahahahahahaha
This and Liturgy's Aesthethica.
Hated this on the first listen.
Thought it was OK on the second listen.
Became one of my favorites after some days.
>>63490623

>>63492749
>Kid A
Didn't see appeal in the majority of the tracks. Then, one day, I couldn't stop listening to it. It's a 10 for me now.
>Aesthethica
Was a whiny little pleb that listened to them ironically until I realized that I REALLY fucking enjoyed it.
>>63486821
t. /thread/
>>63485772
I'm surprised
even people who like the album say that the title track is the only good one
>>63491181
completely agree
thought it was alright on first listen
now i listen to it on a regular basis and it's in my top 10
>>63489866
If you keep listening to an album you dislike, it's because there is some interest beforehand of trying to understand the appeal. It may take several listens to understand this appeal.
I don't think it's Stockholm Syndrom at all, it's learning to love.
I remember on my first listen I couldn't even finish I got to like the third part and just gave up cause I thought it was so shit. I just hated the repetition, super disappointed.
Then the melody of first part was stuck in my head. Every time I tried to listened to something else I just heard the gibberish vocals. It pissed me off so much I listened to it again and this time really gave it a chance.
Now it's one of my favorite albums.
>>63493364
this. Thought it was just basic folk with some orchestral stuff and 1 rock song on first listen.
Now it's
so
much
more
>>63494317

>>63489986

>>63485120

>>63491016
What's difficult to get about this? This is pretty much the opposite of what OP saying. Sounds good at first but then boring pleb shit after several listens.
this is now my favorite album
>>63491181
Yeah at first I was like "WTF Radiohead this isn't OK Computer" but then I fell in love a few listens later.

Death Grips and Neutral Milk.
I know this is retarded but weed can be good for "clicking" with new and unfamiliar music.
>>63499725
lel no shit, what did you just discover weed?
>>63499823
No, I know how weed works. I was just surprised how particularly effective it was for me. My music taste was utter shit until I smoked weed for the first time, a few years ago.
>>63489755
actually exactly how i first heard mpp as well
